Confession: I couldn’t sell my service to even 1 person.

December 2024: I joined LinkedIn thinking I would easily sell my writing services.

I thought selling was simple:
Offer a cheap price + deliver quality work = people will buy.

But I was wrong.

Because there’s one thing I didn’t realise back then:

People don’t say YES to you.
They say YES to the emotion you sell.
They buy the emotion your offer promises.

It took me 6 months to decode this:

You’re not selling a website.
You’re selling certainty that their business will look legit.

You’re not selling a fitness program.
You’re selling the confidence they’ve been chasing for years.

You’re not selling a financial plan.
You’re selling freedom from money anxiety.

You’re not selling personal branding.
You’re selling visibility, authority, and trust.


The people winning on LinkedIn aren’t the ones with the best service.
They’re the ones who understand which emotion their audience is starving for.

So ask yourself today:
- What emotion does my content make people feel?
- What emotion does my offer deliver?
- Is my messaging aligned with that emotion?

Sell the emotion.
The “yes” will follow naturally.

I fell into a rabbit hole today.

A 10-minute read turned into 2 hours of studying one thing:

The art of the hook sentence.

Not the academic kind.
Not the boring “introduction paragraph” stuff they teach in school.

I’m talking about the kind of sentence that yanks a reader by the collar and whispers:

> “Don’t you dare scroll.”



Today, I went through 63 iconic opening lines from some of the best writers in history.

And here’s what I wish I knew before while documenting my own journey as a writer:


1. Great writing doesn’t start with ideas. It starts with attention.

A brilliant insight dies if your first line doesn’t earn 2 seconds of patience.
Writers in literature knew this decades ago.
Creators on LinkedIn are still learning it.


2. Simplicity beats cleverness. Always.

The best hooks weren’t heavy.
They weren’t intellectual show-offs.

They were short.
Human.
Unexpected.
Sharp enough to make you stop breathing for a second.

3. A hook isn’t about “what you say.” It’s about “what the reader feels.”

This is the part that hit me today.

Hook writing isn’t a technique, it’s emotional engineering.
A good hook creates tension.
A good hook creates curiosity.
A good hook creates discomfort.
And that’s why it works.

Here’s what I’m taking forward in my writing journey now:

I’m no longer trying to write the “perfect” hook.
I’m trying to write the most honest one.
The line that reflects my truth, not someone else’s template.

If the sentence doesn’t carry a pulse, it doesn’t go in the post.

As I document this journey, one thing is becoming clear:

Writing isn’t about writing more.
It’s about writing sharper.

How I create 30 days of content ideas  in 30 minutes

It was never easy for me to manage my business, client work, agency (CYS) work
I sometimes had to skip posting for lack of time

One day I spent fully on time management, creating strategy and system that can work as my VA
So I did and never then looked back. 
Here's my 20hours of research based system that save 2000 hours


1. Advanced Google Search

I don’t “Google” like everyone else.
I use operators that pull data from corners of the internet nobody checks:

– intitle: founders "personal branding"
– site: medium "linkedin growth"
– filetype: pdf "thought leadership strategy"
– inurl: case-study "branding"

This gives me:
✔ expert opinions
✔ research-backed insights
✔ niche-specific patterns in minutes.

2.Competitor & Industry Leader Analysis

Great content leaves clues. I reverse-engineer:
-What topics their posts repeat
- What hooks got the most comments
- What pain points their audience vents in the comments
- Which formats consistently go viral (long-form, 1-liners)

I use:
Free tools:
– LinkedIn search
– Glasp
– YouTube comment mining
– X thread search

Paid tools:
– Taplio
– Social Blade
– TubeBuddy (for YouTube trend mining)

One competitor gives you 50 ideas.
Ten competitors gives a year’s content.

3. Deep Research Using ChatGPT + Grok

I don’t ask them for ideas, anyone can do that.
I ask them for angles:
“Give me contrarian takes on X topic.”
“Give me unpopular opinions the founders have about Y.”
“Explain where beginners go wrong in Z.”
“Give me 10 case studies nobody talks about.”

Then I cross-compare:
ChatGPT = structured insights
Grok = fresh, raw, real-time insights

The overlap = fundamentals
The differences = unique ideas
The conflict = viral opinions


4. Blog Mining ( long-form content gives micro-content)

I scan 5–10 niche blogs and pull:
- Headlines
- Subtopics
- Misconceptions
- Mistake sections
- Lessons learned sections
- FAQs

From one blog, I extract:
→ 3 LinkedIn posts
→ 1 story post

10 blogs = 60+ pieces of content.

5. YouTube Transcript + Comment Research (goldmine)

I read transcripts to get structure.
Comments reveal pain points in the audience’s own words.

Using them, I extract:
1-liners
Stories
Real frustrations
Missed points
Objections founders actually have

7. Dump → Categorise → Convert (the final 5-minute hack)

When I’m done collecting:
Step 1: Dump it all into one document
Step 2: Categorise by theme
Step 3: Convert each theme into 3–4 posts
(How-to, mistakes, opinions, story)

And boom:
30 days of content done in 30 minutes.


My content gets easier when I stop forcing ideas and start collecting signals.

But here’s what nobody tells you

You can get client 
You can get rich.
Just not fast at first.


Because you’ll probably make no money for a long time 
You'll not get 1 client for some time 
While you’re learning the skills that make money.


You’ll write 100 bad posts before one goes viral.
You’ll pitch 50 clients before one says yes.
You’ll design, sell, fail, and rebuild again.


And that’s okay.
Because the goal isn’t to make money fast 
It’s to get so good that eventually, clients chase you, money can’t ignore you.


Alex Hormozi said it best:

> “Find a service people already buy.
Do it better, faster, or safer.
Charge more.
And don’t stop when you get bored.”


That’s the entire playbook.
But most people stop at the “bored” part.

3️. Find a post you love
Don't be just random. 
Something that genuinely hits you.

4️. DM why you loved it
Show them your mind. 
Not your pitch.

5️. Show interest
Ask thoughtful questions. 
Be curious, not transactional.

6️. Provide value
Share an insight, idea, tool, or resource without expecting anything back.

7️. Get on a call
Only when the connection feels earned. Not forced.
This is how real relationships are built online.
