1️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 “𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻?” 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲.
✅ Instead of getting defensive, they empathize: “You’re right, I should’ve shared that earlier.” One sentence, ego diffused.

2️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗼’𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸.
✅ They’ll lighten meeting load, drop a quick “You good?” DM. A small gesture that buys huge loyalty.

The best candidates walk in like consultants, not applicants.

Here’s the playbook to standout in interviews 👇

𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪
1️⃣ Identify their pain points
Every role solves problems, your job is to figure them out
Strip the JD to its essence.
Use AI to find the top 3 pain points.
Cross-check with insider convos and notes.
Prep a story + data for each.

2️⃣ Bring three big projects
Pick the ones that stretched you.
High stakes. Messy. Real results.
Post-merger integrations. Launch turnarounds. Regulatory delivery.
Show breadth, skills, stakeholders, impact.

3️⃣ Structure your stories
Don’t wing it.
For projects: Problem → Project → Results.
For challenges: Challenge → Action → Result.
Clear structure = memorable stories.

4️⃣ Show end-to-end project leadership
They’ll ask how you run projects.
Match their world.
Waterfall: Initiation → Planning → Execution → Closing.
Agile: Discovery → Build → Ship → Iterate.
Hybrid? Blend both.

5️⃣ Use AI to research
Prompt:
“Research [Company]. Give me: overview, priorities, challenges, competitors, trends, leadership, and questions.”
Walk in already speaking their language.

6️⃣ Use AI to predict questions
Prompt:
“Based on this JD, generate the top 10 questions I’ll be asked.”
No more guessing.

7️⃣ Use AI to craft answers
Prompt:
“Answer using my resume + project stories. Use Problem–Action–Result.”
Refine into 3–5 talking points.
Deliver in under 2 minutes.

Use Rule of 3.

Check in naturally:

9️⃣ Ask sharp questions
Interviews are two-way street.
Ask like a consultant.

Examples:
“What’s the top priority in the next 90 days?”
“What’s your biggest frustration today?”
“Where do you want be in 1–3 years?”

The power move:
Reflect their pain back to them.
Show them you’ve listened.
Then show how you’ve solved it before.

I struggle to decompress, especially now that I work remotely.

After a long day, the last thing I want to do is mingle.
I just want to be myself.

But that’s when my kids wants to be with me.

When I open the door…

“Daddy!”

It’s supposed to be one of the best sounds in the world.
But I’m drained. Grumpy. I just want to be myself.
And then I feel guilty.

So I spoke to my therapist.

Apparently when i used to go the office,

I had a natural transition between work and my personal life  → My commute.

That transition allowed me to switch to a different mode.

Now I work in the basement.
When I’m done with work I just climb the stairs.
It takes seconds.
No transition.

My family gets my exhausted self,
That just wants to be left alone.

I’d lost the bridge between work and personal life.

So now,

✅ I take a walk after work. Didn’t realize how amazing walks are. Much better than doom scrolling.

Also,
✅ I stopped doing meetings after 6pm. It’s a hard stop.
✅ I stopped doing calls on Saturdays. 
✅ I’ve started taking every 2nd Friday off.

I’ve started to notice a difference.
Is it fixed? No.

But it feels like I’m taking significant steps in the right direction.

And that's a big win. 🤗

I've been laid off twice. Here's what I'd do if I were in a similar situation again.

1-Get Familiar with the Process. 🧑‍💻
• Know what to expect in terms of severance. 
• This way, you’re prepared and can advocate for yourself. 

2-Keep Your Network Warm. 🤝
• Don’t wait until it happens to start reaching out. 

3-Create Your Hype File 🔥
• Document and capture all your wins.
• This includes everything from performance reviews to screenshots of raving comments about your work. 

4-Update Your Artifacts ✍️
• Update your resume. 
• Update your LinkedIn. 

If a layoff happens, you’re prepared. 

If it doesn’t, this exercise will boost your confidence and could even help you land a better role. 

The only security is in setting yourself up for your next gig. 💪

Before you blame your PM, 

Ask yourself these 6 questions:

1-Have I declined most of their meetings?

2-Have I responded to their pings and emails?

3-Have I created an environment that doesn’t shoot the messenger?

4-Do I consult them before making decisions that will affect their initiative?

5-Have I provided enough cover for them to drive things without stepping on people’s toes? 

6-Have I constantly kept them in the loop on key conversations so they’re not caught off guard?

No, I’m not asking you to do extra work. 
I’m asking you to help your PM help you. 
They’re not magicians.

1️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
Scene: Dim Italian restaurant. Two mobsters in suits across the table. He thinks it’s quirky “company culture.”

Mobster: “So… tell us about a time you had to deal with… difficult people.”

PM: “Oh sure, last project, two directors hated each other. I got them aligned by creating clear roles and responsibilities.”

Mobster (to other): “He got two enemies to sit down together. This guy’s got respect.”


2️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁
Mobster: “We need someone who can make problems disappear. Can you do that?”

PM: “Absolutely. I keep a risk log and address issues before they ever surface to leadership.”

Mobsters nod approvingly. One whispers: “He’s got a system.”


3️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Mobster: “Tell us about a time you missed a deadline.”

PM: “Never. I always deliver on time. I’ll stay up all night if I have to.”

Mobster: “Good answer. We like a guy who won’t sleep until the job’s done.”


4️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
Mobster: “Family is important to us. How do you feel about loyalty?”

PM: “It’s critical! If you lose trust with your stakeholders, the project’s doomed.”

Mobster (slamming table): “Exactly. Stakeholders = family. This guy gets it.”


5️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
He’s ushered into a smoky backroom with six older men around a table.

Mob boss: “Can you keep secrets?”

PM: “Of course. I’ve managed plenty of confidential M&A projects.”

Mob boss: “Good. You’ll be managing ours.”

PM: “Oh, you’re merging? With who?”

Mobsters all laugh.
