Using a 5 year old child, to get at their father and then to detain them both, splitting them from their family despite them being in a legal asylum case?

Shooting an unarmed woman three times in the face!?

Just two examples of America that are burned into my mind. And I cannot fathom how Conservative Christians are celebrating this. As a chap of faith, I don't see Jesus in any of the rhetoric coming from the President, the Administration or in the actions being taken on the vulnerable.

I have read my Bible, I've looked at what Jesus said. This does not reflect Him.

I'm so sorry your lives were taken short. I feel so deeply for those that have to miss you and who are struggling with how your memories are being molded by others based on their leanings.
You and your family didn't deserve this.

I love you. Let me share something in love:
When you build your identity around a political party, a person, a religion or a movement, you become blind to anything that might contradict what you’ve invested yourself into.

“They are taking our guns” can become “He shouldn’t have brought a gun.”

And the juxtaposition is impossible to see for the individual whose sense of value and worth comes from years of loyalty to said movements.

Here’s a thought tho. If you are in the above camp and part of you feels something might actually be wrong… it’s OK to say “This is wrong.” No person, no government, no law enforcement officer is perfect. If a mistake is made, it is OK to challenge that. Otherwise you’re engaging in idol worship.

The President can do no wrong, ICE can do no wrong and so on. These are all being put in the place of God.

But if you can say, “THAT incident” or “THAT decision was wrong,” “We all need to learn from that,” there’s no shame in doing so. You’re being rational, you’re being independent, and you’re being true to yourself rather than an idea or a movement.

The same applies to any political or religious belief that folks have built their life around, that includes me.
