What most people DON'T know about me... is that I was bullied so relentlessly at school that I left mainstream education at the age of 8. I have an affinity with animals, especially horses and dogs, they follow me everywhere!
I have never been employed. I began my entrepreneurial journey at 12 years old.
 I have 11 wonderful children. I have been very successful and have also had times when I've struggled.
I find it difficult to switch off and am obssessed with solving problems!
Business can be challenging, marriage can feel frustrating and parenting can feel overwhelming. I am great at helping others but I also recognise when I need to accept help myself!

Today is Thanksgiving, and while I'm happily here in Ireland, the real heartbeat behind this tradition is something we all get. It's the moment you stop, look at the people around you, and genuinely recognise the role they play in your life. Not because everything is perfect or everyone agrees, but because presence always matters more than perfection.

I’ve been thinking about what Thanksgiving is really about. To me, it comes down to a feeling of unconditional belonging, something I learned from my Nan.
For us, Christmas was a proper gathering; we’re a big family, so if you got there early, the rooms were quiet, but before you knew it, the house was packed.
My Nan had a tradition that perfectly embodied what I call a "welcome culture. She always kept a few gifts wrapped up under the tree with no name on them. Why? Because she never knew who might stop by just to say hello over the holidays, and she never, ever wanted anyone to feel left out.

When a surprise visitor arrived, maybe someone she hadn't seen in a while, or even someone who’d had a difficult time with another family member the previous year, she’d beam and say: I've got something for you under the tree. I'm so pleased you called in.

She would go to the living room and write their name on the gift. The gift wasn't reserved for them, but it was absolutely meant for them the moment they showed up. It was her simple, powerful way of saying: You belong here. You are thought of.

Some homes have a welcome mat that gets walked all over and means nothing. My Nan’s home had a welcoming culture. That is what this day represents to me, even though I'm here in Ireland and we don't officially celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s a moment for reset, belonging, and honest, truthful caring.

If you are celebrating the day, have a wonderful holiday. And whether you are celebrating or not, I hope today you get to feel what those surprise guests felt at my Nan's table: that simple, profound sense that you are cherished, you are seen, and that a seat was saved for you all along. May your day be filled with that unconditional welcome and the quiet knowledge that you are valued and belong.

The Real Reason High Performers Freeze At The Next Level.

People rarely stall at the beginning. They stall once life becomes stable, when they’ve reached a level of success they understand, a rhythm they can navigate, and a level of responsibility their nervous system has learned to survive. It might not be ideal, but it is predictable, and predictability feels safe.

Then the next level shows up. It might be a bigger opportunity, a leadership jump, a move from corporate into entrepreneurship, scaling the business, or stepping into visibility and larger responsibilities. On paper, it makes sense. In the body, it feels like a risk.

High performers don’t freeze because they lack ambition. They freeze because the nervous system interprets growth as loss: loss of control, certainty, reputation, relationships that formed around their current identity, and loss of the version of themselves that finally learned how to function under pressure. When evolution threatens what feels stable, the survival system quietly pulls the brake.

This is why people who once moved quickly begin to hesitate. They revisit the same decision for weeks, delay projects they know they should execute, tell themselves they need more clarity or better timing, and convince themselves they are being strategic. They are not being strategic. Their biology is trying to keep them inside a life it already knows how to protect.

Focus on physiological debt, not reward (forget treats). Provide the basics: Deep sleep, serious hydration, nutrient-dense slow food, movement that actively lowers your heart rate (walking, stretching), and non-performance human connection.

Return with Steady Energy. Your true strength emerges when your body is calm. Your edge was never adrenaline; it was sustainability. 

High performers burn out because they mistake crisis states for excellence. They call it drive; their biology calls it emergency. Start working with your physiology, and your output becomes sustainable.

Why You Feel “Behind” Even When You’re Ahead

High performers rarely feel behind because of a lack of progress. They feel behind because their internal timeline is running months ahead of their current reality. Their mind has already stepped into a future they have not built yet, while their nervous system is still grounding them in the present. That mismatch creates the illusion of failure even when everything is on track.

This is why successful people often carry pressure they cannot explain. They are trying to catch up to a projected version of themselves while their biology is still stabilising, where they stand today. 

The gap shows up as restlessness, tension, and the self-criticism that grows in the space between where they are and where their mind thinks they should be. This delay is not a flaw. It is the system doing its job.

You cannot measure yourself against a timeline your biology hasn’t agreed to. When your attention jumps ahead, your nervous system interprets the present as a setback instead of solid ground.

If you want deeper conversations, meaningful introductions, and real business outcomes, this is where they begin.

Most people treat the end of the year like a finish line, when in reality, it is the clearest mirror we will get. If we are honest with ourselves, there is still enough time to hit several of the goals that we set for 2025, because focus at the end of the year removes the noise we will allow in to 2016. This is where people with intention separate themselves from people who only want or need a fresh start.

The real problem is that most people set resolutions, not goals. A resolution is a statement you hope will change you and your life. A goal is a direction you commit to with clarity, structure and accountability. One disappears by the second or third week of January.  Goals become part of your behaviour because they have identity, milestones and a timeline attached to them. When you set resolutions, you rely on motivation. When you set goals properly, you rely on alignment.

Goals collapse when they live only in your head. If you do not break them down into milestones, you give yourself nothing measurable to move toward. If you do not communicate them, you remove any support or collaboration that other people acn bring when they know what you are working toward. Sharing your goals is not about attention. It is about integrity. 

When you communicate your direction, you clarify your identity, you give others the chance to help you, and you also hold yourself to a higher standard because your intentions are now visible.

The reason most people fail with goal setting is that they want the outcome, but they do not build the structure that will make the outcome a reality. They think clarity happens later; clarity is the foundation that carries everything else. If you do not define what you want, why it matters, what must be measured, and who needs to know, you will repeat another year of movement without progress.

Look at 2025 and ask which goals are still alive if you stop drifting and move with intention. Now is also the time to start shaping 2026 with a level of precision that makes success predictable instead of hopeful. 

Set the direction. Break it into milestones and communicate it clearly. Align your behaviour with the identity you are stepping into. When you approach your goals with that level of honesty and structure, the year stops happening to you and starts being built by you.

Identity transitions do not break you, they expose where your internal and external worlds are out of sync.

You know you are in a transition when you hesitate in rooms you once dominated. You repeat old explanations to people who never grew with you. You accept tasks your current identity would never tolerate. 

You tell yourself you are tired, overwhelmed, or stuck. The truth is simpler. You are trying to live tomorrow with yesterday’s operating system.

Your internal identity updates first. Your body changes before your career does. 
You feel it when:
You stop tolerating clients who drain you
You no longer want to justify your direction
You feel irritation when people make demands that used to feel normal
You sense you are meant to lead rather than assist
