Family Dinner Foundation, Inc is an international, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to connect the world as a family at and beyond the dinner table. 

Inspired by the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation, the foundation launched its first initiative, Our Family Dinner in 2008, focused on improving the well-being of individuals by facilitating family inspired citywide and neighborhood-based dinners in major cities all over the world.

 The tradition now reaches nearly 50,000 adults and young adults across 30 cities, 3 continents and growing.

Our Family Dinner is an initiative of Family Dinner Foundation, Inc, a nonprofit exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Foundation JC (PP) is newly reimagined spiritual care, but also an old-fashioned partnership between you and your spiritual advisor / pastor / counselor. 

We specialize in one-on-one spiritual advisory, direction and (pre) marital counseling for professionals, in-season professional athletes, traveling health care workers, deployed military and more. We approach our guidance in a biblically based, structured, relatable, and systematic manner, with clear owned outcomes and next steps. Lawrence E. Adjah, MBA, M.Ed, M.Div. is a licensed and ordained Minister (of the Gospel), a Prepare-Enrich Certified Marriage Counselor, and a Spiritual Advisor, Chaplain & Coach.   Building on a timeless philosophy of quality over quantity, our private practice allows professionals who are not currently part of local faith communities, the ability to receive intentional gospel-based, one-on-one or couple based, covering, care and counsel.  

With that said, we believe in the biblical importance of community so we have cohorts, and actively work in partnership with companies and local churches (at capacity for adequate internal discipleship and care) to provide important spiritual care to those who seek it.

Additionally, he narrated the audio version of the bible: "Lawrence E. Adjah Reads the Bible: New International Version (NIV)" (Watch God Work™ Publishers - 2024).

A licensed and ordained Minister, certified marriage counselor, and chaplain, Adjah provides gospel-based counseling, spiritual direction, chaplaincy, and life coaching to professionals and organizations.

Beginning his career at McKinsey & Company after being an All-American track & field athlete, Adjah holds a B.A. from Harvard, an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business, an M.Ed from The University of Texas at Austin with distinction, and a M.Div from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, receiving the Preaching Award and the John D. Tate award.

Lawrence serves as an Advisory Board Member and Former President of the Board of Directors for The Harvard Black Alumni Society (HBAS). Lawrence also serves on the Board of Directors for the Urbanworld Film Festival and formerly served on the national Board of New City Kids.

From touring St. Bernard Hospital’s Ambulatory Care Center, to visiting community partners across Englewood, West Garfield, Auburn Gresham, and New Pisgah, the day was a living picture of what it looks like when an entire ecosystem is committed to the dignity, health, and flourishing of older adults.

It was a privilege to lead this session, “Learning How to Be Human, Again" ::
Reclaiming mutual care practices and traditions that help us (to fight) and to flourish through life.

We explored how mutual care and the life-giving traditions of crisis and celebration are not optional, they’re essential to what makes us human. 

As our families, friends, neighbors and greater communities continue to wrestle with disconnection, I’m convinced more than ever that we need to reclaim the rhythms that help us thrive, not just perform.

While it was my intention to give much more than I received, thanks to every single person in the session and all they gave, I certainly left with more than I could have ever asked, thought or imagined.

Learning How to Be Human, Again

Yesterday, we had the privilege of welcoming Lawrence Adjah, Founder & Chairman of the Family Dinner Foundation, Inc., for a powerful SALA Digital session on “Learning How to Be Human, Again: Reclaiming Mutual Care and the Traditions That Help Us (Fight and) Flourish Through Life.”

The conversation explored the essential role of community—and how thoughtful structure can help us stay grounded and supported through life’s most pressing moments. Lawrence challenged us to be intentional about the frameworks and rituals that shape our connections, and to be intentional about ways communities are structured and govern - and both the 'what' and the 'why' behind the value to members.

One model that resonated deeply was the 5C Framework, a practical way to strengthen communal bonds:

 - Commit – Agree to a set period for a new model of governance
 - Connection – Meet biweekly during that commitment period
 - Communication – Ensure everyone hears from one another weekly
 - Crisis – Respond within 24 hours; within a week, a group act of care
 - Celebration – Mirror the crisis response with shared joy and recognition

First piloted during the pandemic, communities that embraced the 5C model saw transformational impact—deepening relationships and enhancing collective well-being.
