I am also a Founding Member of Remote-First Institute, an angel investor, and an advisor/board member to a handful of other exciting companies and projects.

I am passionate about the future of work. I believe that when we design more purposeful, sustainable businesses and lifestyles, we shape a better reality. I have spent the last 10+ years studying and understanding the mindset, practices, and tools required to make that happen, and I am excited to share my expertise.  I have received multiple distinctions for my work in culture shaping, leadership, and business development, including being a Top 50 Remote Innovator in 2023 and 2024, and my work was featured in publications like Washington Post, CNET & more.

My professional and personal experiences span 4 continents, 45+ countries, and several different industries. I am based in Bali for most of the year and a digital nomad/location-independent entrepreneur for the rest.

My fields of expertise are new ways of working, modern leadership, organizational design & culture, work-life synergy, sustainable entrepreneurship, human capital development.

I first read this article a few months ago, and I returned to it today, since it gave me so much food for thought- and it's probably the sanest thing I've read in a long time.
Joe Hudson is the top exec coach in the world and works with the people building AI/AGI (incl. Sam Altman). 
Here are 10 takeaways, many of which stopped me in my tracks:
➡️ Before AI, knowledge set you apart. Knowing more = earning more.
➡️ Today, as models swallow entire fields overnight, wisdom is what keeps you indispensable.
➡️ The people building AI understand a sobering truth: They are building the technology that will make their own skills obsolete. AGI will be able to do what they can do today—faster, cheaper, and at scale.
➡️ Our entire society is built around knowledge as a scarce, precious resource.
➡️ Now, you can get all the answers from AI, but how you use those answers takes wisdom - which he summarizes as these 3 skills: emotional clarity, discernment, and connection. 
➡️ Wisdom is how to live. It is the residue of mistakes, metabolized by time and reflection. It can’t be rushed, and it can’t be copy-pasted.
➡️ Promotions in the age of wisdom won’t go to the people with the most impeccable spreadsheet, but to those who can transform a team’s silent anxiety into aligned action. “You won’t be judged on how much you know, but instead on how well you can allocate and manage the resources to get work done.”
➡️ Too much choice stalls action. In the famous "jam study," shoppers presented with 24 flavors bought jam 3 percent of the time, while those offered just six flavors purchased 30 percent of the time—a 10-fold jump.
➡️ The world’s longest-running longitudinal study (Harvard) found that the single strongest predictor of both happiness and physical health in old age was the warmth of participants’ close relationships. In fact, quality of connection at age 50 predicted health at 80 better than cholesterol levels did.
➡️ Inner work isn’t just a personal growth tool anymore. It’s a strategic imperative. And it literally is the cornerstone of being happy - and living a long life.
Basically, in the age of AI, the most important thing you can do to future-proof yourself - not to mention increase your chance of being happy and living a long life - is to work on your emotional clarity, discernment, and connection with others.
Simple, but not easy.

Knowledge Work Is Dying—Here’s What Comes Next

Being great at your job used to be the fastest way to stop doing it. The better you got, the less you got to do it.
You know it's true.
Well, it was.
Corporate logic: crush it at your job so we can make you stop doing it and manage people instead. Master your craft and we'll make you trade it in for a title - and a calendar fuuuuull of meetings.
A few companies, like Netflix or Google, saw the problem and built proper senior individual contributor tracks. But in most organizations, going into management is (still) the only way to evolve your career, make more money, earn more respect, status, etc - even if you are terrible at it or aren't even remotely interested in it. 
To no one's benefit: the result is an army of reluctant, overwhelmed, and often just plain bad managers.
Same story for entrepreneurs: do what you love long enough, get good at it, start having increasingly more demand for your product/service and suddenly you're approving budgets, running one-on-ones, managing teams who do it instead. Some of us love the challenge and thrive in these new 'roles', others  don't. 
Now all this is changing:
AI is finally freeing specialists from the tyranny of becoming mediocre managers.
Yesterday, during a roundtable at the Leadership Gateway, wonderfully put together by Anne Caron & Saranta, Reza Behnam brought up examples of fractional execs that can now join your business bringing entire teams of trained AI agents with them. 
Anne talked about coaching her clients to think in terms of capabilities instead of hiring needs. Then, going from there: do you really need a new hire? two, ten? an internal promotion? a fractional, a contractor? An AI-enabled workflow operated by your existing team?
Grace reflected on how the corporate question of "How much headcount can I get this year?" is quickly becoming well... passé.
Meanwhile, John Rush is running 24 startups with exactly zero human employees.
The need just won’t be there anymore.
If you’re technical (and I don't mean being CTO material - I mean just being good at your craft and good at experimenting and implementing digital and AI tools), you’ll soon be able to produce the results of a whole team - without managing a single human being.
Maybe AI won’t replace managers.
Maybe it’ll just make managing itself optional.
That won’t fix everything.
Humans will still crave mentorship, collaboration, and leadership. Some people will want to and be good at managing teams. But this might finally let experts grow without being forced up the (wrong) ladder as the sole available option.

I've been thinking a lot lately about “AI slop” (low-effort content churned out by generative AI without much - or any - human discernment or quality control). 

LI posts, Substack content, comments of all kinds, emails, "articles", millions and trillions of LI messages.

It's the digital equivalent of fast fashion: cheap, abundant, mass produced to fill up the racks and shelves rather than stand the test of time.

The key markers: saaaaameness, superficiality, wa-ay too many words. It’s not that AI itself produces “slop” by default,  it’s that when people use it lazily, the result is an ocean of beige that makes my eyes instantly glaze over it and start thinking about what to get for dinner.

Ironically, this slop flood we're all experiencing is.creating a new premium on human curation and originality. As AI slop grows, so does the value of anything that’s obviously written, designed, or thought through by a human with a spiky, non beige, non-vanilla, opinionated point of view. (And yes, humans _can_ use AI in the process of researching, producing and refining that.)

This week in positi-news:

Since June this year (which is only a few months ago!), more than 7,000 learners from across Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua, have joined Remote Skills Academy’s AI Upskilling Program. Each one of them is learning to use AI in ways that make a difference in their lives, such as:

➡️ micro-business owners creating product videos and visuals with AI tools, 
➡️ stay-at-home parents discovering new income opportunities while caring for their kids
➡️ university students finding smarter ways to analyze research or develop their papers. 
Each end-beneficiary reminds us why accessibility matters more than ever.

Across every community, we notice the same challenge:
❌ Many people think AI is too complicated or "not for them"
❌ Most learning materials are in English or feel far removed from their daily lives

That’s why we work hand in hand with our local implementing partners to make AI learning relatable and practical. Sometimes that means running offline sessions in small towns, bringing a list of real challenges and solving them together using AI during live demos. Other times, it’s hosting fun, interactive online trainings with quizzes and short breaks to keep everyone energized and engaged.

And we’re just getting started.
