I’ve spent over 10 years in sales leadership roles across North America, including Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, previously as Director of Sales, North America at Itipack Systems.

Spending the day working out of the house I grew up in, where my dad taught me to love sales. 

He always said, sales is simple: Sell with honesty and integrity, and treat others as you would like to be treated.

Get in the trenches and sell with your team!

Still the biggest perk of my job, getting to spend days sitting shotgun selling alongside awesome reps!

This is my favourite story of the year.

Not because it’s dramatic or shiny, but because it shows how the small, almost forgettable moments in sales end up mattering the most.

I was on a road day with one of my favourite reps. We pulled up to this distribution centre that might as well have been Fort Knox - barbed wire, no front door, no reception, just a security gate and a back shipping dock.
The only reason we got in?

The guard knew him.

He’d been there 14 times already. Always friendly. Always consistent. Always showing up.

Inside, we chatted with a young woman we’d seen a few times before. My rep dropped off his card - like he always does - and we carried on. Honestly, we didn’t think much of it. 

We’d heard “I’ll pass it along” more than a few times already.

A couple hours later, we get a call.

Head office.
Head of purchasing.

He had just been at that same distribution centre. That same young woman handed him the card. And they were actively looking for exactly what we offer.

Two years of tiny touches suddenly paying off in one moment.
That’s why I love this story.

It reminds me that sales isn’t magic - it’s consistency, focus, and showing up long after most people throw in the towel.

This is the best Sales Leadership investment you can make in yourself in 2026.

Enterprise pricing drives me crazy.

One of my clients pays $100 per seat/month.
Another client was quoted $125 more per seat/month for the same product, the same license, and the same number of seats (that’s $12K more per year for the second team for the exact same thing).

My guess is that the only real difference is a different rep in a different quota situation, working for a different manager.

It’s hard to understand the actual value when the price jumps all over the place.

I’ve never sold enterprise software and won’t pretend to be an expert on it. But doesn’t this kind of approach train customers to always push for a discount and encourage reps to lead with price instead of outcomes?

It's so easy to obsess over results… 
but skip the activity metrics that actually explain those results. 

-Calls made. 
-Emails sent. 
-Meetings booked. 

These are the inputs that shape pipeline health and conversion rates. 

You need to track both sides to grow predictably, and find the answers that actually impact your results.

It's usually not just skill or organization that causes sales teams to fail, they often fail because one (or more) side of the Leadership Triangle is missing.

Clarity → Consistency → Accountability

When even one of these is weak, performance slips fast:
-Reps get confused about expectations
-Coaching becomes reactive instead of strategic
-Pipeline conversations turn into reporting meetings
-Leaders get stuck firefighting instead of leading

But when all three are strong?
Teams move faster, communicate better, and hit targets with less friction.

How do you make the buying experience easier for your prospects?

I’ve been running weekly remote sales meetings with a client who needed help getting their cadence back on track. The whirlwind of day‑to‑day business had crowded out their ability to meet consistently and invest in the team.

I was hesitant to do it remotely, but I’m grateful I said yes. Having a committed group to meet with every week has made it a fun and rewarding experience. It’s a little outside my usual path of work, but it’s an opportunity I’m thankful for and really enjoying.

Remember: the main objective of a sales team meeting is not to review numbers or pipeline (that can play a small part). The goal is to equip and energize your team so they go out and attack the week or month with optimism and energy.
