Philipp has been product manager, in-house SEO and was heading Marketing at the market-leading price comparison in Germany (Idealo.de). He specializes in the fields of accessibility, crawlability, and onpage optimization of websites with extensive inventory in highly competitive industries (eCommerce, Comparison Search Engines, Marketplaces, Classifieds & Travel).

Since 2011 Philipp Klöckner focused on search consultancy and organic growth strategies to share his experience in search (Google, Bing, Yandex, SEO / PPC), comparison shopping, and business intelligence with publishers, e-commerce companies, and start-ups as an independent consultant and angel investor. On request, he's also been consulting strategy consultants, venture capital funds, private equity firms, and boutique agencies. As a business angel, he typically writes 25-50k checks in seed rounds and helps to challenge and execute the marketing strategy.

While mainly working as an investor and consultant out of Berlin, he was also advising ventures in Russia, Poland, South East Asia, Middle-East, Latin America, India and the rest of the World.

Danke für 10 Jahre OMR-Podcast, Philipp Westermeyer!

🎉 Am Samstag feierten ca. 500 Gäste im ehemaligen Gruner+Jahr-Gebäude, was Philipp und das OMR-Team in nur 10 Jahren aufgebaut haben. Ich hatte die Ehre, eine kurze Laudatio zu halten. Ganz kurz was ich bemerkenswert finde:

🏅 Jedem ist klar, was für eine Institution der OMR-Podcast geworden ist und welche Begehrlichkeiten er weckt. Einige würden ihr Erstgeborenes geben, um mal von Weste interviewt zu werden.

⏰ Philipp ist ein echter 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭-𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐫. Als OMR 2015 mit der Produktion des OMR-Podcasts begann, war kein einziges der heutigen Top-20-Formate in den Charts. Seine Konkurrenten waren die Sendung mit der Maus und der Tatort als Hörspiel. (Allein Böhmi & Lollo liefen damals schon unter anderem Namen)

🤌 Das OMR-Team hat nicht nur einen Blockbuster-Podcast gebaut, sondern ein ganzes Ökosystem: Fußball MML, Lanz & Precht, Fast & Curious, OAWS, digitale Vorreiter:innen, Rabbit Hole und vieles mehr wurden von OMR produziert und inspiriert. Philipp ist eigentlich "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫" und selbst Plattformen und Konkurrenten schulden seiner "OMR-Mafia" Dank und Respekt für die Massen, die er für den Podcastmarkt rekrutiert hat.

🔦 Außerdem teilt Philipp, der für sich persönlich keine Öffentlichkeit sucht, sein Studio und seine Bühne mit Underdogs und High Potentials. Viele Menschen und Marken hat er aus der Versenkung ins Rampenlicht gebracht. So auch mich.

📈 Der OMR-Podcast zeigt immer wieder, was in Deutschland noch geht, und dokumentiert, WIE es geht. Superstars, Aufsteiger, Politiker, Spitzensportler und Entertainer geben sich im OMR-Studio die Klinke in die Hand und dabei ist Philipp einfach "Weste" geblieben. Auf kaum jemanden trifft das Adjektiv „bodenständig“ mehr zu.

🫧 The AI boom is far from over. NVIDIA’s latest data-center numbers are staggering: GPU revenue is not just growing, it’s accelerating, up 66% year over year. And demand is set to climb even higher next quarter.

💵 But this raises a critical question: how long can Big Tech finance this AI arms race?

Google and Microsoft have the advantage of massive cash flows and can borrow at rates better than many governments.

Amazon, however, faces growing pressure from shareholders to show more discipline around free cash flow. And Meta is already pushing its spending limits, especially challenging given it doesn’t operate a cloud business to offset the cost of its AI ambitions.

Then there’s the next tier of players. How much additional capital can OpenAI, valued at $500B, and Anthropic, now worth $350B, realistically raise to stay competitive? And will challengers like Perplexity or xAI even have a shot in this escalating capital war?

✨ One thing is certain: 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most pivotal years in tech—maybe even in history. Or, as Sam Altman might say, “except for all the following years.”
