Kevin McGrew was brought into Hygenicomp, an early-stage franchise company, by the original founder to provide strategic leadership and scale the business. Hygenicomp specialized in advanced cleaning and disinfecting services for computer hardware and sensitive electronic equipment—an emerging niche with strong demand in corporate and financial sectors.

As President, Kevin crafted and executed a high-growth sales and marketing strategy that propelled the company from 2 franchise units to over 30 locations in just 18 months. His strategic direction led to national partnerships and secured contracts with Canada’s leading banks and financial institutions, positioning Hygenicomp as a trusted provider in a compliance-sensitive industry.

Kevin also played a key role in building franchise systems, refining operational processes, and strengthening the company’s brand and value proposition. His efforts culminated in a 7-figure exit to a private family investment fund, marking a successful chapter in Hygenicomp’s expansion and solidifying Kevin’s reputation as a growth-focused operator and strategic dealmaker.

Founded and led Biz2Biz Publishing Inc., a niche startup delivering innovative advertising products to underserved small business markets across the Lower Mainland of Vancouver, BC, Canada. I built and managed a high-performing sales team, achieved profitability within 90 days, and negotiated a 70% reduction in delivery costs through a unique contract with Canada Post. Biz2Biz exceeded revenue targets by 100% and maintained a 99% customer satisfaction rate. Successfully negotiated high 6 figure sale of the company to Surrey Now, marking my first exit.

I proudly served aboard the USS Long Beach (CGN-9) during the height of the Cold War, where I was entrusted with the responsibilities of an Operations Specialist Second Class (OS2). Our role was mission-critical—standing watch in the Combat Information Center (CIC), managing radar tracking, tactical communications, surface and air surveillance, and interpreting intelligence to provide real-time situational awareness to the command team.

The Long Beach was the first nuclear-powered surface combatant in the world, and during my time aboard (1984–1988), she served as a powerful deterrent and frontline asset in multiple high-stakes deployments, including operations in the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Persian Gulf, supporting freedom of navigation, joint exercises with allied forces, and forward presence during rising regional tensions.

While deployed, I earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) designation—a hard-earned qualification reflecting deep knowledge of naval operations, shipboard systems, and warfare readiness across all departments. It remains one of my proudest achievements.

Our command distinguished itself with several awards, including the Navy “E” Ribbon for battle efficiency, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and recognition for excellence in warfare readiness and nuclear operational standards.

Serving aboard the USS Long Beach during this pivotal era instilled in me the values of discipline, precision, mission-first leadership, and operational excellence—principles that have stayed with me throughout my entrepreneurial and professional journey.
