Most of my clients have monthly retainers. 

The last week of the month, I'm either:

A) Scrambling to catch up on hours before I invoice

or

B) Over my hours and saying "I'll get to that next week" to anything non-essential

Plus, while there's typically one main person I report to at each company, I'm often fielding requests from at least a handful (if not DOZENS) of people.

Providing this info transparently shows clients whether you have bandwidth for more or you're already overtasked.

Anyway, BRB, updating all my Slack statuses and will let you know how it goes.

A kindness that takes no time at all: Schedule your Slack DMs during a person's working hours. 

This is especially helpful when working across time zones.

I promise your colleagues will appreciate it.

And bonus: Whatever questions you had may be answered by the time you wake up.

"But Kate, doesn't everyone know this already?"

Based on my experience, I honestly don't think so.

Listen, it's everyone's responsibility to mute or simply not check their Slack. Not gonna lie and say I've never accidentally sent a Slack at a weird time.

But it's so nice when you don't get notifications while you're resting, out with friends, vacationing, etc.

I want to help people keep their peace, not be the cause of their grief.

This is how I know I live in a B2Bubble.
