So I'm scrolling the internet and see something intriguing: 

"Reserve Your Moon Hotel Room Now - Only $1M Deposit."

I think it's a joke.

It's not.

It's Skyler Chan a 21-year-old who just graduated from UC Berkeley and started a company called GRU Space (YC W26)

He's taking $1 million deposits for a hotel on the moon. Opening date: 2032.
The company has one employee besides Chan. No hotel yet. No lunar lander. No proven way to get people there or keep them alive once they arrive.

What he does have: detailed renderings showing what the hotel could look like, and a three-phase roadmap explaining how he might build it.

And people are wiring seven figures.

This is what every pre-launch founder is trying to do at investor meetings. Make people see something that doesn't exist yet. Make the invisible compelling enough that someone writes a check.

Chan just took it to the apex level.
Because he isn't selling the product. He's selling the story.  The status of being "first,” and the ability to say "I was part of this before anyone else."

His customer's surface goal is to reserve a room. But the underlying dream is to be remembered as part of those who made history. A story their grandchildren can tell at dinner parties. 

Whether you're selling a technical breakthrough, an infrastructure advantage, or a security system, it might be a different moon. But the same principle applies.

Who else knows this feeling?

When I first started working with hardware startups pitching to enterprise buyers, I'd spend weeks perfecting slide decks, writing case studies, optimizing email sequences, updating the website, scheduling webinars, and coordinating trade show booths. Before long, I was working 12-hour days. Pipeline was rising, but my energy kept nosediving.

Burnout, obviously.

Even now, I still catch myself adding "quick tasks" that feel productive but aren't worth the time they consume. Pareto principle is alive and well: 80% of marketing activities feel important. 20% actually generate qualified leads.
If you're looking for your 20%, here's my take. 

Focus on:

💡SEO content answering the specific technical questions your buyers are Googling

💡Educational webinars where prospects see the product work (not sales pitches)

💡Email campaigns to people who've already downloaded your content or attended events.

💡Referral programs that activate customers who've lived the transformation.

Which demos actually move complex B2B deals forward?

Everyone obsesses over format and style. Should it be Interactive, recorded, live, or self-service? 

But companies with 18-month sales cycles and 6-10 stakeholders aren't winning because of format.Product demonstrations are fundamentally trust exercises.

 You're proving the engineering works. You're answering "why believe this" before it becomes a blocker.

So, what makes a demo accelerate deals while another just burns meeting time?
Six months ago, I'd have said personalization wins. Now I think it's narrower than that.

Demos that actually shorten cycles share three patterns:

1️⃣They expose internal logic. 
Decision-makers want to see how the vision system identifies tissue through blood. How the actuator maintains sub-millimeter precision. How the company connects X and Y to make it work.

2️⃣They let each stakeholder choose their depth: 
Personalization is still important. Every relevant department needs justification. For instance, if you made a data crunching software product, procurement needs cost analysis. Data analysts need technical validation, and a standard demo must appeal to all.

3️⃣They don't require scheduling sales: 
Multi-stakeholder deals stall when information access depends on calendar availability. So, limit scheduling as much as possible.

Flagging your stolen eBike so thieves can't swap in replacement parts sounds like solid theft prevention.

So why did this win CES's "Enshittification Award"?

Because this parts-pairing system that protects against theft could also block legitimate owners from doing their own repairs.

 In the words of tech critic Cory Doctorow, “the same technology could lock owners out of their own repairs, especially if Bosch changes terms later.”
I don't think this is bad faith on either side. It's just that the system operates invisibly.

Let me explain. 

Users can't see how components authenticate each other. They can't see what distinguishes authorized replacement from flagged theft.

 They can't see what happens if authentication servers shut down a decade from now.

A 3D technical explainer showing the actual digital handshake, the override protocols, and the data retention is one way to let the engineering prove itself.
When the engineering is sophisticated but invisible, visualization is how trust gets built.
