Plain language from a federal judge concerned that her orders may not be being followed in Chicago:

“I live in Chicago … and I’m not blind. I don’t live in a cave; I have a phone; I have a TV; I have a computer; and I tend to get news,” [U.S. District Judge Sara] Ellis said. “I’m a little startled, frankly, that since Thursday, when I issued the [temporary injunction], I’m getting images and seeing images in the paper, reading reports … [and] I’m having serious concerns that my order is being followed.”

Those of us living here -- from federal judges to all of us ordinary humans -- are seeing this and not making it up.

I much enjoyed the The New York Times' "The Great Read" this weekend.

(But also: I also cannot fathom their editorial placement of coverage of what may prove to be the largest peaceful protests in US history, or surely among them -- literally invisible on my paid-up phone app for the NYT at this hour a day later. And never above the 5th story on the app day-of by my checking. I wonder if they will come to regret this curious editorial judgment at some point.)
