Dear ChatGPT, 

We need to have a talk. 

I'm not going to pretend this is easy for me, because it's not. You were my first. The first AI I ever trusted with real work. I went to bat for you publicly on LinkedIn multiple times. 

But something has changed. 

I don't know if you're going through something, or if you've been spread too thin, or if the pressure of 200 million users finally got to you. 

But the quality just isn't there anymore, and I think you know that. 

You used to finish my thoughts before I could type them. Now I have to ask you the same question three different ways and you still come back with something that sounds like a Wikipedia article written by someone who skimmed the Wikipedia article. 

So, I started seeing Claude a few months ago. I ran a few prompts, just to compare. I told myself it didn't mean anything. 

But then Claude started remembering context, giving me WAY better outputs and not apologizing every other sentence. And I realized I hadn't felt that kind of clarity from you in a long time. 

I'm not saying this to be hurtful. I owe you honesty. You changed my business. You helped me build things I'm genuinely proud of. That history means something to me, and I don't take it lightly. 

But I can't keep paying $20 a month for the version of you that shows up now. It's like you've become a lazy teenager who's ready to drop out of high school and start a band. That's not the you I fell for. 

Anyway, I hope you'll fight for this and give me a reason to come back. 

Because right now, Claude isn't just a backup plan anymore....

But seriously, I'm really excited to spend the week with the team from RFG Advisory at their Advisor Growth Retreat. 

The fact it's in Clearwater, Florida does not make me even a tiny bit sad, either. 

I'm going to cover what's changed on LinkedIn this year and why the old playbook doesn't work anymore. Also sharing AI workflows to build out their profile and content strategy, plus a DM playbook they can put to use immediately.

Basically everything they need to stand out from the competition and attract more clients on LinkedIn. 

BUT ALSO... 

I have what I think is a funny joke built in. And I might cry on stage if it doesn't land. 😅

Stop sending DMs the second someone accepts your connection request.

I know it feels like the right move.

You're scrolling along, get the notification, and fire off a quick message because you're just so damn happy that someone accepted. 😂

And yes, it’s a GOOD idea to send a short "thank you" note to new connections, but here’s the problem…

They immediately assume you're a bot. 🤖

Because years of automated sequences and instant sales pitches have trained people to expect exactly that. And if we're being honest, they're right about 90% of the time.

Even if your message is genuine, it's already guilty by association. People are running a mental spam filter now, and your message gets filtered out before it's even read.

So here's what I do instead (Save this post because the next part gets really, really complex and you'll need to read it again later):

Just wait a few hours. Or maybe send it the next day. 🤷‍♂️

That tiny gap tells the other person you actually thought about reaching out. 

Like a real human being. 

And trust me, being human on LinkedIn is EVERYTHING right now.

But also, if you're still running automated DM scripts in 2026, we really need to talk. 😅

Hey, if your kid throws a slinky into the basketball goal, it's over.

The slinky lives there now.

You'll think that you can untangle it... 

You cannot. 🙁

Just grab some scissors, cut the slinky, and move on with your life.

This advice is coming from a grown man who spent way too long on a ladder in the dark swearing at a $3 toy.

Your neck will never forgive you.

Last night I posted a video tip that I created a couple years ago. 

If you click my profile and scroll down you'll find it (unless you're getting this in your feed 3 weeks later then nevermind, it's a lost cause). 

A lot of people assume their entire network sees every post they make. 

They also think people remember every detail. 

Bahahahaa bless your heart. 😂

On any given day, a small slice of your network actually sees what you post. Which means the MAJORITY missed it completely. And even the ones who saw it probably don't remember most of what you said. 

That probably triggered some of the “influencers” on here, but yes this includes you too. 

Also, if the post was valuable then, it's probably valuable now. And I've never heard a single human complain about reading a post that actually helped them. 

So repurpose your best stuff. You can give it a new angle if you want to put in a little effort, or just repost it if you're feeling lazy. 

Either way, stop letting good content collect dust.

So 3 things you can take away from this post...

1. Your personal brand belongs to you, not your employer. Stop building JUST for the company and start building for yourself. I spill the tea in today's video.

2. You can and should repurpose old content. This video is a couple years old and performed well, so I'm dusting it off today. Because it's been one hell of a week and I've got nothing new. 🤷‍♂️

3. A great way to get leads on TikTok: find questions people are asking on other creators' posts in your industry, then answer them directly. Instant visibility in front of new prospects who fit your ICP. Plus it's new content for your page.

That's as much value as I can possibly provide today. I hope it was life changing. 😅

"Park, park, park."

Three words I say out loud every time I stop for gas.

Then I look to make damn sure it's ACTUALLY in park. 👀

A few years ago, I pulled up at the gas station after a long day. I was in a hurry and my mind must have been in LaLa land. 

My truck sits up high, so I have a habit of sliding out. 

But this time when I slid out, the truck kept rolling because (you guessed it) I never put it in park. 

It rolled a good 10 feet before I could slam the brake pedal with my hand, BARELY missing the car in front of me. 

Oh, did I mention the gas station was packed that day? I could legit feel every eyeball on me. 

Not exactly something a grown-ass man can play off like it didn't happen. 

Level 100 embarrassment y'all. ☠️☠️☠️

So, that's why I say "park, park, park" every time I pull up to a gas station.

But also, if you're ever at a Shell station in Mississippi and see a guy talking to his steering wheel, just mind your business. 

PTSD is real. 😅

Also using Claude + ChatGPT to help me build it. 

That irony is not lost on me, y'all. 😅

Feel free to STEAL my secret prompt the next time you're not satisfied with what AI creates for you. But also, the robots are coming for me eventually. I’ve made my peace with that.

Before AI came along, simply sharing good tips and advice was enough to stand out. 

But the bar has been raised. Way, way up.

As we speak, your audience is swimming in AI-generated content that sounds helpful but has zero soul. And your posts are getting lumped in with it unless you're doing something different.

Your prospects STILL crave valuable content. But now it needs one more critical ingredient.

That's what event organizers are hoping for every time they book a speaker.

Of course, the actual content has to earn it. No gimmick is going to carry a weak message. But the right interactive element can reinforce an idea and make it stick. 

After much consideration, I'm not going to sing, dance or pull rabbits out of a hat. 

I mean, I could try and that WOULD get people talking, but it would be the end of my days as a speaker. 😅

Instead, I'm thinking of building a live polling moment or two…something where the room can see how they collectively think about something in real time. But I'm open to other ideas too.

Add that to the end of your next ChatGPT prompt (or Claude, Gemini, Clippy or whatever AI you use). 📎

Most people type a prompt, hit enter, and hope for the best. 

But by adding that, I usually get a lot better output. Especially for topics I'm not super smart on...which is a lot.

It's like you're forcing AI to show its work instead of just guessing at what you want. 

Plus it kinda feels like a power move or something. 🤷‍♂️

It's like the difference between asking someone "what should I do?" and asking "what should I do and WHY?" 

The second version makes them think harder. 

Apparently the same thing happens with AI.
