Here's how to impress someone who's built and sold 8-figure companies

Actually do what you said you would.

Confession: I wanted to teach a programme online for years

When I caught up with Timothy Armoo recently, he asked how things were going since we last saw each other.

I told him I'd finally built Amplify Academy.

His reaction?

"Oh, you actually did it?!"

The shock on his face said everything.

Because most people don't follow through.

They talk about:

- The course they'll build
- The role they'll go for
- The business they'll start

But years pass. And nothing changes.

The difference this time? I stopped waiting for clarity.

I learned the hard way that clarity doesn't come before action. It comes after.

A plane doesn't wait for perfect conditions - it takes off and course corrects along the way.

For the past 4 years I've used a nifty (free) Chrome extension called Boomerang with a feature called Pause Inbox.

It does exactly what it sounds like - you press a button and it stops new emails from hitting your inbox until you're ready.

(they just go into a temporary folder out of view)

I've just paused my inbox until 1st Jan 2026.

Because here's what I've learned:

You can't control when people send you things.
But you can control when you see them.

1. Set up your out-of-office
2. Pause your inbox
