Unpopular opinion, but someone needs to say it...
Your wife doesn't care about your deadlift PR.
Neither do your kids.

And your business partners definitely don't give a damn about your macros.

Here's what they DO notice:

→ When you're irritable because you're exhausted
 → When you avoid family photos
 → When you lack the energy to show up fully
 → When you're slower, weaker, less present

You've convinced yourself that "getting in shape" is selfish.

That taking an hour for yourself is time stolen from your family or business.

But here's the uncomfortable truth:

Your lack of health isn't noble, It's selfish.

I know because I've been there and justified my declining health as "being busy" while everyone around me suffered for it.

Because the version of you that's operating at 60% capacity isn't serving anyone.

Not your wife. 
Not your kids. 
Not your team. 
Not yourself.

This might trigger you. 

3 lies keeping you out of shape after 35:

LIE #1: "You need to train like you're 25"
6 days a week. High volume. Push through pain.

THE TRUTH: Your body doesn't recover like it did at 25. Training harder won't fix this. Training smarter will.

3 strategic sessions per week > 6 days of grinding yourself down.

LIE #2: "You don't have time"
Between work, family, and everything else, there's no time left.

THE TRUTH: You have 168 hours in a week. 3-4 hours for yourself is less than 2.5% of your time.

The issue isn't time, it's priority.

When your health fails, everything else follows.

LIE #3: "It's too late to change"
You're not 25 anymore. Best you can do is accept it.

THE TRUTH: I've worked with men in their 40s and 50s who lost 15-25 lbs, gained strength, and regained more energy than they had in their 20s - all in 90 days.

A reminder from this morning’s session…
Everyone’s chasing new  trends and AI for 2026.

Few are training the muscle that drives everything else.

You can have the perfect plan, eat well, sleep well, track every metric.

But most get stuck when they:

→ Expect too much, too soon
→ Lose patience when progress slows
→ Quit when life gets messy
→ Stop showing up when it’s boring

Training your mind isn’t optional anymore. 

It’s what keeps you consistent when your body wants comfort and your environment pulls you off track.

Mental resilience looks like:

→ Adapting when progress is invisible
→ Focusing on inputs, not the noise in your head
→ Doing the work when it’s the last thing you want to do
→ Managing the gap between effort and results with calm

The strongest people don’t just train their bodies.

They train their mind.
They manage their emotions.
And that’s why they stay in the game...forever. 

AI won't do that for you. 

Something to think about as 2026 is coming in fast.

I cannot close my day without doing this 5-minute practice. 

In fact, it has become one of the biggest reasons I stay consistent and one of the best ways to clear my head without spiraling.

→ Journaling before bed.
(And no, that's not only for teenagers) 

I answer four simple questions. 
Takes less than 5 minutes.

1. What went well today?

Could be anything. 
A good workout, a meaningful conversation at work.

I'm teaching my brain to notice wins not just what went wrong.

2. What didn't work?

Not to criticize myself but to learn.

Why did I skip the gym? What triggered it? 
What can I shift starting tomorrow?

3. What's my focus for tomorrow?

One personal priority. 
One professional priority.

The two things that'll make tomorrow feel like a win.

Bonus: What do I need to remind myself when I wake up?

One sentence to set the tone.

For example:

 "I'm not running from my responsibilities. I'm doing what I said I'd do."

That's it.

If you want to stop losing momentum and create space to think clearly then start reflecting before your day ends.

I've noticed a pattern in my coaching conversations. 

"I'm waiting for the right time"

The details change, but the story is always the same:

Entrepreneur or busy professional.
Father.
Building something that matters.

And 30-40 pounds overweight.
Exhausted most of the time.
Avoiding family photos.

"Once things calm down at work, I'll focus on my health"

I always ask: "How long have you been saying that?"

Silence.

Then: "Probably 3 years... no, actually more like 5"

Here's what I've learned working with ambitious men:

The "right time" never comes.

Because what you're really waiting for isn't time. 

→ It's permission.

Permission from your partner.
Your schedule.
Your past self.

Permission to not be perfect.
To be a beginner.
To look "strange" in the process of becoming.

But nobody's going to give you that permission.

You have to take it.

90 days later, those same men are down 20-30 pounds, have energy they haven't felt in years, and are showing up differently everywhere at work, at home, in life.

Not because they found the perfect time.

They stopped waiting for permission and just started.

Imagine what would change if you finally decided to give yourself permission to prioritize your health.

I recorded this video today, but it felt important to write about it too. I see this pattern constantly with clients, friends, people I talk to.

They're doing everything they're supposed to do: 

Showing up to work, paying the bills, taking care of their families.

On paper, they're handling it.
But when you actually ask them how they're doing?

They're just going through the motions.
There's no fire, no excitement. 
Just the same routine on repeat, week after week.

And I get it. 
Life gets full & Responsibilities pile up.

But at some point, you stop asking yourself what you actually want or need. 

You stop questioning anything. You just... keep repeating.

So here's my reminder to you:

You weren't built to stay in a routine so predictable that nothing feels new for years.

Your brain craves adventure and challenge. 
It wants to be stimulated differently to learn new skills, to be exposed to something outside your routine.

I'm not talking about blowing up your life or making some dramatic change.

I'm talking about finding one new thing you can commit to and dive into:

→ One challenge
 → One goal
 → One area where you actually go all in

Maybe it's finally prioritizing your health.
 Maybe it's that side project you keep pushing off.
 Maybe it's just showing up differently at home.

Whatever it is, no matter your age, you can still try something new.

So do yourself a favor and go break some of that routine on purpose.

Would you deserve a raise based on your last 6 months of effort?

Most men hesitate at this question.

Not because they're lazy but somewhere along the way, they stopped being intentional.

The workouts became optional. 
The nutrition slipped. 
The excuses stacked up.

Here's what I've learned and my reminder for you today: 

You can't perform at your best in business, relationships, or life when your health keeps falling to the bottom of the list.

Time to raise your own standards.

Something I learned after years in corporate:

Whatever space you're in, you need to learn the rules of the game if you want to win.

Because if you don't?

You'll watch others succeed while you complain about why it's not working for you.

Corporate too political? Doesn't value your expertise?

Do something about it.

· Learn new skills and showcase them.
· Double down on your visibility while staying authentic.
· Or go where you're valued.

Health declining? Fitness feels impossible?

Yes, it's hard. 
It requires effort & doing things you don't feel like doing.

But once you find what actually works for YOU, your lifestyle and your goals, it's not as hard as you think.

Remember, you always have a choice.

Learn how the game works and play to win.
Or sit on the sidelines watching others move forward.

Business. Career. Health. Relationships.
Every space has rules.

You can learn them or you can complain about them. 

It's yours to decide.

You built a career, a family, a life that looks good on paper. But you stopped showing up for yourself.

And now you’re tired. Disconnected.
Going through the motions.

Either way, the lesson’s the same:
No one’s coming to save you.

The hardship. The failures. The drift into disconnection.
They don’t break you.

They teach you something most never learn:

→ How to keep going when no one believes in you.
→ How to rebuild when you feel like you have nothing left.
→ How to show up when quitting feels easier.

That’s when strength stops being physical and becomes mental.

That’s your edge.
Because the ones who give up fold when life gets hard.
But you? You know what hard feels like.
And you’re still here.

Every man I’ve coached who changed their life did it for one reason - they got tired of staying stuck.
