Update:
Jacky traveled last night to find internet in Bogo. Her friend found a “Wi-Fi Area” that actually has signal. 10 pesos per hour.
That’s 20 cents for us Americans.

Look at these pictures: temporary workstations in a damaged building. Laptops on picnic benches. Fans pushing away heat and mosquitoes. Working under tarps and makeshift roofs.

“There’s 4 of us now - hustling.”

That’s the message she sent.

While most people are still assessing damage, my team is already back to work.
Not because they have to, but because they want to. Because providing for their families matters.

Many of my team members in the Philippines earn more than anyone in their family ever has. They’re the first generation to do so, and it’s my job to help them keep providing, even during disasters.

It’s easy to give a man a fish. But teaching someone how to fish creates real impact.
I’ve been teaching people how to earn from a laptop with Wi-Fi for 11 years, and it’s one of the best feelings in the world.

But this situation showed me something:
We can do better. We can be more prepared.

Here’s the plan:
👉 Buy 10 solar-powered battery systems and Starlink Wi-Fi units
👉 Place them in key cities: Manila, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, and others
👉 Use them to provide power and Wi-Fi during emergencies

Starlink doesn’t need a contract. You activate it only when needed.
This could have solved many problems since the government provided no emergency communication support.

Imagine this:
Next time disaster strikes, we deploy a team member with solar power, Starlink, and charging stations.
Free for the community.

So people can:
→ Call loved ones
→ Check if family is safe
→ Access emergency info
→ Keep working if possible

That’s real help.
Not bureaucracy. Not charity overhead. Practical, fast, life-saving help.

🌍 Serve entire communities

When the crisis ends, we deactivate Starlink, pack the system, and store it for the next emergency. No waste. No ongoing cost. Just readiness.

I'm grateful for the powerful and generous network of people who care for my friends in the Philippines.

They say God never gives you more than you can handle.
God must really know the strength of the Filipino.

Severe Tropical Storm Fung-Wong is heading for the Philippines, expected to reach SUPER TYPHOON strength by Sunday.

The Philippines just survived:
→ 7.2 earthquake in Cebu
→ 7.6 earthquake in Davao
→ Super Typhoon Tino

And now? Another super typhoon, Fung-Wong. Expected to hit 16 provinces in Luzon with heavy rain and flooding starting Saturday.

How much can one country take?

My team is STILL recovering from the last typhoon. Jacky is STILL working from a temporary Wi-Fi station. People are STILL in tents because their houses crumbled. Families are STILL rebuilding.

And now they have to prepare for another one.

This isn’t just another storm. It’s potentially SUPER TYPHOON strength. The same people who survived two earthquakes and a super typhoon are about to face another one, less than a week later.

This is exhausting to watch. I can’t imagine living through it. To constantly be in survival mode. To rebuild, only to have it destroyed again.

But you know what? They will survive this too. Because that's what Filipinos do. They survive. They rebuild. They help each other. They keep going. Even when it seems impossible.

And honestly? Their strength is unmatched.

Most Americans couldn't handle ONE of these disasters. Let alone four in a month. But Filipinos? They're already preparing, securing what they can, and checking on neighbors.

Because they have no choice. When disaster is a regular part of life, you either break or become unbreakable. Filipinos chose unbreakable.

This is why I'm pushing for emergency Wi-Fi/power stations. This won’t be the last disaster. It might not even be the last one THIS MONTH.

The Philippines needs infrastructure that can withstand this. Systems that can be deployed immediately. Solutions that actually help.

Here’s what we’re doing:

Monitoring the storm closely

Checking in with all team members

Making sure everyone has evacuation plans

Preparing to activate emergency protocols

Getting ready to help however we can

To my team in the Philippines: Please stay safe. Secure everything. Have an evacuation plan. We’re monitoring from here and will help as soon as it’s safe.

To everyone else: If you’ve been thinking about helping, now is the time. Constant disasters, constant recovery. They need support, infrastructure, and real solutions.

This emergency Wi-Fi/power station project is urgent. It’s the difference between being cut off and being able to call for help.

God knows the strength of the Filipino. So do I. They're the strongest people I know. But even the strongest need support.

PS: Super Typhoon Fung-Wong expected Sunday. This is the FOURTH major disaster in less than a month. If you ever wondered what resilience looks like, watch the Philippines.

“So tired of calling the Filipinos resilient like it’s a freaking compliment.”

A Filipina named Ruth said this on my last post. 😭

And I had to pause. Because I’m the one who called them resilient. I meant it as a compliment. But I understand why someone living through it wouldn’t see it that way.

Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung Wong) is coming. On top of two earthquakes in the past month. Four major disasters in less than 30 days.

When I say resilient, I see people survive, rebuild, and keep going. To me, that’s remarkable.

But when you’re the one rebuilding for the fourth time this month, “resilient” starts to feel like “you can handle more.” It feels exhausting.

Especially when help never comes.

Remember the flood control scandal?
Billions meant for infrastructure, stolen.
When the floods came, nothing was there to stop them.

So when people praise resilience, it can sound like acceptance.
Like “you’ll bounce back again” instead of “why wasn’t help delivered?”

They’re not tired of surviving. They’re tired of being left to survive alone.

Since 2014, I’ve built a 100+ person team in the Philippines. I’ve watched them face typhoons, earthquakes, and floods year after year.

Many live in simple homes made from wood or hollow blocks, structures that can’t withstand storms. Imagine rebuilding every year while money meant to protect you sits in a politician’s account.

The help never came. And then people like me call them resilient.

I understand why that’s exhausting.

They don’t want to be resilient anymore. They want infrastructure, honest leadership, and one year without rebuilding everything.

When I say resilient, I admire their strength. But it can sound like acceptance, like we’ve given up on fixing what causes their pain.

Filipinos are incredibly strong. I’ve never seen people rebuild faster or help each other more. That’s admirable.

But admiration doesn’t rebuild homes. Compliments don’t prevent disasters. Calling people resilient doesn’t give them the flood control they were promised.

They shouldn’t have to be this resilient, this often, because of corruption. They’ve earned a break and the infrastructure they were promised.

That’s why I’m building emergency Wi-Fi and power stations, raising funds, and delivering supplies myself. I refuse to rely on a system that keeps failing them.

Recognizing resilience is one thing. Using it as an excuse not to help, or to steal relief funds, is wrong.

To those tired of hearing it, I hear you. You shouldn’t have to keep proving your strength.

To everyone else, don’t let “resilience” become an excuse to accept corruption. Filipinos are resilient, but they shouldn’t have to be.

They were promised protection. They deserve it.

PS: I called them resilient because I admire how they keep going after being failed repeatedly. But what they need isn’t praise, it’s the infrastructure they were promised.

PSS: The flood control scandal is why Filipinos told me not to send relief through the government.

Update: Only 3 of my 12 leadership team members showed up to our call today, Julio, Nichole, and Benz from Davao.

The rest are in the Visayas, Cebu and Bacolo; right in the path of the super typhoon.

It was a short, difficult call. Normally we plan growth and strategy. Today? We just made sure everyone was okay.

“Are you safe?”
“Do you have shelter?”
“Do you need anything?”

It’s my Chief of Staff’s birthday, Jacky’s 30th. Happy birthday, Jacky, when you get internet to see this.

The same Jacky who once loaded supplies on her motorcycle and delivered relief goods family by family. Real leadership.

Now she’s spending her 30th in a super typhoon; no power, no cell signal, just hoping to survive.

That’s the reality. Power’s out. Communication’s down. We spent the day doing damage control, informing clients, explaining delays, putting everything on hold. Because survival comes first.

Some clients have asked how to help. Honestly, I don’t even know yet.

This year’s been brutal for Cebu; earthquakes and now a super typhoon, all within a month.

How much can people endure?

Streets flooded. Cars submerged. Homes destroyed. Roofs torn off.

This is where my team lives. Where they’re trying to survive.

And I’m thousands of miles away in California, where people complain from comfy couches or Starbucks lines.

We take so much for granted.
Power. Cell service. A roof.

My team has none of that right now.
No power. No service. Some no roof.

And yet; they’re not complaining. They’re surviving. Helping each other. Showing resilience most of us will never need.

Puts everything in perspective.

Our “problems”?
Traffic. Slow wifi. Cold coffee.

Meanwhile, my team faces:
Typhoon-force winds.
Flooding.
No contact with loved ones.
Total uncertainty.

Business becomes secondary real fast. Revenue, growth, deadlines; none of it matters when your people are in danger.

What matters is people.
Making sure they’re okay.
Making sure they know we’re here.

To my team in Cebu, Bacolod, and nearby areas:
We see you. We’re praying for you.

When power returns and it’s safe again, we’ll be here; ready to help however we can.

You’re not just employees. You’re family. And family takes care of each other.

To everyone else reading this:
Be grateful. For your power. Your roof. Your safety. Your ability to reach loved ones.

Right now, thousands in the Philippines don’t have any of that; and they’d give anything for the “problems” we complain about.

Perspective. That’s what today gave me.
