After completing my traineeship, I worked as a freelance online marketer for over a year.

Tijdens deze functie had ik een dubbele rol: zowel de leveranciers van ICM als ICM zelf blij maken. Met mijn collega's op de crediteurenadministratie zorgde ik namelijk voor het tijdig betalen van facturen. Dit voorkwam dat ICM in de problemen raakte en een slechtere relatie kreeg met haar leveranciers.

Maar wat hield dat dan precies in?
Het beheren van de mail, het inboeken van facturen, het opstellen van de betaalbatch en het controleren van de grootboekrekeningen.

Samen met mijn collega's op de KS afdeling zorgde ik voor een goede verwerking van de informatiestromen. Dit maakte dat cursisten van ICM altijd de juiste informatie kregen op het juiste moment.

❌ Tried many things that didn't work out as expected. But hey, that's life. As long as you keep going and accept/appreciate both the highs and the lows.

I haven’t posted on LinkedIn in a year.
Didn’t reply to a single DM.
And honestly? I didn’t miss it for a single day.

This year was about endings,
closing chapters, letting go of things that once defined me.

And beginnings,
I became a dad.

Professionally, I slowed down on purpose.
To focus on my family. To reflect.

I watched ideas come and go.
Resisted the urge to start something new.

This year looked quiet. But in reality, a lot happened:
→ I sold NIE Number Fast
→ Utopian Inc. was acquired by Zapier (credits to Steven and Robin)
→ Opened a third salon for the company I run with my girlfriend, Hair Extensions by Char, and doubled our overall revenue.
→ In between, we moved houses twice, from Mallorca to Madrid to Amsterdam.

I also helped a few founders with growth.
Felt good to be back in the trenches.

But in between the wins, there was emptiness.

When you’ve worked 80+ hours a week for years and that drive suddenly disappears,
you realize how much joy there is in building something that matters.

In doing things no one understands but you and your co-founders.
That shared obsession, it’s rare.
And you only appreciate it when it’s gone.

But this year also reminded me that work isn’t everything.
Family, friends, laughter, that’s what anchors you.

Becoming a parent puts everything in perspective.
It brings you back to the present moment.
It slows you down in the best possible way.

So yeah, it’s been a reflective year.
Quiet on the outside, loud on the inside.

I’ve never loved social media.
But I’ll start sharing again.
Not advice, but stories.

Because stories connect people, especially the messy/real ones.

And if you’ve ever felt like you’re the only one struggling while everyone else is “winning” - you’re not.

Entrepreneurship is mostly falling and getting back up.
Again and again.

And somewhere in that chaos,
that’s where the real growth happens.
