Then I watched my first production-ready model crash spectacularly.

The model worked perfectly in my Jupyter notebook.

In production? Complete disaster.

That failure taught me something most AI courses skip - 

The hard part isn't training models. It's making them work in the real world.

I spent the next few years learning the unglamorous parts of AI engineering.

The stuff that doesn't make it into Medium articles but makes the difference between a demo and a product.

2/ map every step, including the ugly handoffs between tools

3/ find where a decision gets made and then immediately triggers a mechanical action

4/ that decision-to-action gap is where your agent lives

5/ do the workflow yourself manually before writing a single line of orchestration code

6/ document every failure mode, edge case, and exception you hit

7/ separate judgment calls from mechanical execution, agents own the mechanical part

8/ design your agent to complete the full task, not to suggest the next step

10/ connect to real tools from day one: email, Slack, CRMs, databases, calendars
