I’d have been extremely happy to cross 50k followers on LinkedIn.

Helping people for free is my toxic trait.

And honestly, it feels good. 
People see you as genuine, kind & approachable. 
The “she actually cares” person. I like being that person. I always have.

But there’s another side to this that no one really talks about.

You start feeling tired without knowing why. 

Not physically tired, but mentally drained. 
Because somewhere along the way, people begin to assume you’re always available. 

That they can reach out anytime. 
That you’ll look at their profile, give feedback, brainstorm ideas, hop on a quick call. Again and again.

I can help once or twice, happily. But all the time? No one has that kind of free time. And yet, when you’re too accessible, people stop seeing your time as valuable. Slowly, without bad intentions, they stop taking you seriously.

I’ve lived this. I’ve learned it the hard way.

Helping isn’t the problem. 
I still believe in helping. I still do it. 
But I’ve realized it only works when it’s intentional. 

When there are boundaries. When there’s clarity on when you’re helping as a human and when you’re showing up as a professional.

That shift changed a lot for me. 
Not my kindness, but my energy. And how people show up around me.

If you’re someone who loves helping others but feels oddly exhausted and slightly taken for granted, you need to think about it.

Sometimes the lesson isn’t to stop helping, it’s to start being intentional about it.

What’s funny is most people start building a personal brand to make more money but somewhere along the way, they forget why they even started 🤷‍♀️ 

They end up obsessing over the only metrics that are visible to everyone else, likes and comments.

They focus on them because they’re public and instant & psychologically they trigger social validation and dopamine hits, the same reason notifications feel addictive and silence feels uncomfortable.

So the brain starts chasing approval instead of outcomes.

And slowly, the real metrics that actually make money get ignored...

Pofile views from the right people, inbound DMs, sales conversations or pipeline movement because those things are private, invisible & don’t make you feel publicly accountable.

No one sees your empty inbox.
Everyone sees your likes.
That’s why most people optimise for applause instead of income.

Now this is on you to analyse whether you're working as per your goals or just for public validation

One of my mentees asked me… Is it possible to grow a LinkedIn company page? Here’s what I told him:

Yes, it’s possible. Of course, there are some tricks. But it’s not sustainable. And it takes a lot of time.

Whether you want to share something or reach out to anyone... it works better if you use your personal profiles.

And the fact is…
People don’t follow logos. They follow faces.

If you notice, most company pages on LinkedIn are inactive or have engagement that looks like a ghost town.

Even big brands rely on their founders & employees to humanize the brand.

So if you’re trying to grow your business here, stop hiding just behind your company logo. Start building personal brands of your key employees on LinkedIn and yours too.

When people start trusting you, they’ll automatically trust your company. And when you post from both (your profile + company page)… that’s when growth compounds.

1️⃣ Use your personal profile for storytelling, authority, & relationship-building. 2️⃣ Use your company page as a credibility layer… updates, wins, announcements.

Your personal brand brings attention. Your company page holds it.
That’s how you grow both.

LinkedIn announcements are slowly turning into clickbait.

I open a post thinking someone started a new role or got a big update.

But the moment I click, it’s just a normal post wrapped in an announcement format.

I get why people do it.

Announcement posts get crazy impressions.

But still...

Is this really how we want to build our personal brand?

By borrowing trust for reach?

I was about to scroll past and move on.

But this pattern is showing up way too often now.

Just sharing what I’m noticing lately.

Are you doing what you’re asking others to do?

Are you showing up as the person you claim to be?

I think there’s a big misconception with the whole lead gen thing. 

That you should pick one channel & run with it.

I read it somewhere & realised this is so true.

I used to rely only on inbound.
But not anymore.

Back then, I thought if my content was good enough,
leads would keep flowing in.

And they did but to some extent.
But here's what I’ve learned the hard way:

Putting all your hopes on one channel is risky.
- Whether it’s inbound or outbound.
- LinkedIn or referrals.
- DMs or content.

No single method will sustain you forever.

Now I’ve built a system that blends both:

Inbound: through content, positioning & trust
Outbound: through conversations, context & clarity
Referrals: by doing great work & staying in touch

Because lead generation isn’t about choosing one method
It’s about creating momentum from many.

And moreover...

You can’t control who finds you.
But you CAN control who you reach out to.

PS: Do you more rely on inbound or outbound?

Every money making business in the world is built on one simple idea: Swallow the frog.

Do the thing people hate doing.
Solve the problem people avoid.
Take away friction, discomfort, or effort.

That’s where value is created.

➤ Look at product-based businesses:

People don’t want to cook every day.
They want something quick, familiar & predictable.
That’s where brands like McDonald’s win.
They didn’t invent food. They just removed effort.

➤ Now look at SaaS:

Most people hate designing.
It feels time-consuming and technical.
So Canva came in & said, “Design without thinking like a designer.”

They swallowed the frog for millions of people and built a massive business around it.

➤ The same idea plays out inside organisations:

Employees who grow faster are not always the smartest ones.
They’re the ones who notice what their boss dislikes doing.
Reports. Follow-ups. Coordination. Documentation.

They step in, take it off the plate, and suddenly become valuable beyond their role.

➤ Even coaching & training works the same way.

Leaders hate difficult conversations.
Managers avoid feedback discussions.
Teams struggle with conflict.

Corporate trainers and leadership coaches exist because they help people do what they avoid but know they must do.

➤ And this applies to personal branding too.

Most professionals avoid showing up consistently online.
They hate writing.
They overthink visibility.
They fear judgement.

So the ones who swallow that frog, show up regularly, share perspectives, and stay consistent end up standing out.

Progress, growth, and opportunity almost always sit behind something uncomfortable.

If you’re stuck, ask yourself one question:

➤ What’s the frog I’m avoiding right now?

Because on the other side of that discomfort is usually your next level.

You’ll quit eventually if you don’t get the dopamine.

I'm getting obsessed with this a lot these days.

Because humans are wired to continue what feels rewarding.

If effort gives no feedback or progress or no small wins... motivation quietly dies.

That’s why people leave jobs or stop posting, or abandon their goals and drop routines.

To gain dopamine every day, all you need is to:
- Create short term goals 
- Acknowledge small wins
- And focus on the reward

That's all.

The first time I saw a “I made $1M” post, I felt like a failure. 

But then I started doing this:

Instead of feeling bad, I studied the post.

Every time you see such bold claim posts, you may react in 3 predictable ways:

- Some get inspired but take no action.
- Some feel bad about their own progress.
- Some blindly chase the same strategy.

Now, Here’s what you can do next time:

1️⃣ Detach Emotion from the Numbers

→ A big number is marketing.
→ Ask: Is this a repeatable system or a one-time thing?
→ Most overnight successes took 5+ years.

2️⃣ Spot the Real Value (or the Lack of It)

If the post is just fluff → move on.
If there’s a clear framework → break it down.
If they mention failures → note down the lessons.

3️⃣ Context Is Everything

Making $1M is different if:
→ You started with VC money vs. bootstrapped.
→ You sold a one-time course vs. built a business.
→ You had connections vs. started from scratch.

4️⃣ Extract the Playbook

→ What skills got them there?
→ What strategies did they use?
→ What mistakes did they avoid?
If you can break it down, you can replicate parts of it.

5️⃣ Apply or Ignore

Success leaves clues.
If a post gives you one useful idea → test it.
If it’s just another flex → don’t waste time.

→ Most people consume content.
→ The smart ones filter, analyze & implement.

Hard to swallow but your actual content hardly impacts the reach. Here's the real truth:

Your LinkedIn content may be failing and it has nothing to do with the actual content itself. Here are the 4 major reasons:

1/ Hook: 50%

It’s the major element of your posts.

If your hook isn’t addressing a pain point or has a relatability factor or strong enough to make readers click on ‘see more’, your content may fail to get the desired reach.

It's the first impression, so make it count.

2/ Content Delivery: 25%

The second major thing that impacts is your content delivery.

If it’s not formatted well and it’s not easy to scan the content, then it’ll be hard for readers to consume it ( no matter how good your content is ).

The quality of the attachments like images & carousels etc. also matters.

The focus should be on clarity, not complexity.

3/ Poor CTAs: 15%

CTAs play a 15% role in post’s performance.

Your hook is good. Your info & content delivery is good. But you leave your readers abruptly hanging at the end.

Add good CTAs & tell your readers what to do next.

4/ Actual Information: 10%

Good information alone isn’t enough.

How well can you communicate that information, matters.

If you use complex language & your message isn’t clear or engaging, it won’t resonate, no matter how valuable it is.
