Step 2: Build a short list of deals that can close in time.

Then give those deals the structure and time they need.

Check for gaps.

Get ahead of approvals.

Map around every out-of-office or delay that could kill momentum.

We reverse-engineer the timeline and plan for what’s likely to go sideways.

Step 3: Find new business that can close fast.

This might mean:

🔸 Smaller deal sizes
🔸 Past prospects who went quiet
🔸 Accounts that should’ve been prioritized six months ago

The reps I’ve coached through this the last two years?

Some started November at 20% to quota.

They still finished above 100%.

This isn’t the time to chase every maybe.

It’s the time to double down on what’s real - and build smart from what’s left.

If there’s no clear path to close-won in the next 45 days?

Park it for Q1.

Make a short list of real opportunities. 

Look at it 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺. 

That’s where all your energy should go.

𝟮. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝟯 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. 

This might be:

• A demo that went cold
• An inbound you followed up on once and forgot
• A small deal that can chip away at the gap

As one of my clients said this week: “𝗦𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲.”

When quota feels out of reach, you start by stacking small wins. Momentum always starts somewhere.

𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿. 

Map every deal backward from the signature. 

Add buffer for legal, redlines, and end-of-year slowdowns. 

Block time to stay out of Slack chaos and protect your close time.

Last November, I worked with a seller who was at 20%. 

She messaged me mid-month and said, “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘧𝘧.”

We cut the noise. 
She rebuilt her deal list. 
She added three net-new opportunities in a week - all small-ish, all clean, all real. 

By the second week of January, she’d hit 104%.

Not by doing all the things that came at her in a day. 

By doing only what mattered.

If you are staring down a number that feels impossible - it’s still possible (I promise, I see it with my clients every single year).

But it won’t happen by accident.
