My childhood in Venezuela was good. 

It was happy. 

Anyone who's from there will tell you the same thing. 

In the 80’s, my father was CEO of Gideca, a Spanish company supplying pipes and valves to Venezuela's top oil refineries. 

He understood infrastructure. 
How it was built. 
Maintained. 
And how quickly it can fall apart when neglected. 

He liked his job. 
The people. 
The travel. 
The country. 

In 89’, I watched my father's smile fade as he stood guard outside our home—the people wanted justice from a corrupt govt. 

We left after that. 

As for my classmates—every single one of them eventually followed the same path. 

You see…It was never about the “people” as every leader claimed, but who benefits when system failure is mistaken for fate.

I didn’t read about the collapse in a textbook.

I watched it from our front door.

And they’re very valuable. 

Not because they're  rare.
Not because they're worth money.
But because he touched them. 

Someone once waited weeks to send a message, and my grandpa waited to receive it, delicately removing each stamp—saving and treasuring it. 

Time. 
Patience. 
Admiration. 
Appreciation. 

Sure, we have AI now. 
But this.

The smell of nostalgia. 
The quiet, sacred pause between generations? 

Nothing will ever replace that.
