Stumbled upon a rare opportunity this afternoon to meet Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the 4th and 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia 🇲🇾.

I asked him several questions on international relations, trade, geopolitics, and Malaysia’s position in a rapidly changing world. Despite being 100 years old, Tun answered every question with clarity and sharpness. His health, energy, and presence of mind are truly remarkable.

A special thank you to my friend and golf kaki, Dato’ Ridza Abdoh, for inviting me to this meaningful session.

Tun shared many insights. Some of my key takeaways:
	1.	To be a good leader, you must listen more.
	2.	A country can only progress when leaders place national interest above personal or political interest.
	3.	Greater emphasis on STEM education is needed to prepare our youth for the future.
	4.	Our education system needs re-examination — with stronger focus on moral values and character building to nurture responsible citizens.
	5.	With China’s growing dominance in global trade, Tun believes Chinese language may need to be taught as a third language in Malaysia.

Always something to learn from leaders who’ve seen the world change many times over.
