And the business giants who are putting all their eggs in the AI basket may be building their growth on shaky ground.

AI-washing and the massive layoffs hitting the economy

This year’s 2026 planning season looks a little different for me.

On top of setting the vision for Gydewell’s future, my fiancé Jared and I are in the midst of planning our wedding in June. 

And more importantly, we’re planning our marriage.

As we set the vision for our shared future, we’ve been talking about our values (this is what happens when you marry an executive coach 😁), and how they provide a foundation for us as individuals and as a couple.

As we talked them through, I started connecting the dots that the values I want to center in my marriage are the same ones I want to center in my business:

TRUST
GROWTH
INTENTION
ACCEPTANCE
CONNECTION

There is no separation between our “professional self” and “personal self.” We are integrated beings.

Our values are the ground we stand on everywhere.

And the more we discuss and align on them with our partners (business, romantic, or otherwise), the more prepared we will be for whatever lies ahead.

As a leadership and organizational psych nerd, here’s what’s really landing for me so far:

Our values (not just the ones on our company website, but the ones we actually live by) are the strong ground we build EVERYTHING upon.

This foundation is where we become clear on who we are and how we operate.

AND, it’s how we leverage our strengths in the face of challenges.

Brené puts it this way, “Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk—we are clear about what we believe and hold important, and we take care that our intentions, words, thoughts, and behaviors align with those beliefs."

This is the work, friends.

It's knowing what you stand for when:

⚓ Everyone's looking to you for guidance
⚓ You're making high-stakes decisions on critical issues

Your values aren't decorative. They're your structural foundation.
