Kept logs of program success, and managed finances for non profit and donation transactions within guest relations.

Work on guest relations team to assure that the humane society is accurately and effectively upholding a positive face within the local and surrounding communities. This included email handling, social media content creation, assisting in marketing campaigns, and growing a dedicated following across social media to assist in the effective adoption and fundraising efforts!

Recruiting is Sales. 

Top recruiters know this, and brand-new recruiters learn this fairly quickly. 

As Agency Recruiters, we are selling an opportunity to passive candidates, selling top candidates to hiring managers, and selling our services to prospective clients. 

We must be able to do this well or we simply will not be successful. Not 'closing the sale', is not an option. 

This all being said, 'salesy' recruiters will not see success. Candidates and clients don't want to be 'sold' to in traditional ways.

Procrastination. 

It is a blessing and a curse. 

Since high school, I have always struggled with procrastination (Undiagnosed adhd). I would simply not be able to start a task until right before it was due. 

But man, those last few hours, magic happened. 

Some of my best work was done under the pressure of a hard deadline. 

As an adult, in the working world, I have found ways to work on breaking this trend, as it is not quite as cute in a professional world. 

As a mom, I watch my son (and his very diagnosed adhd), struggle with the same combo of procrastination and high expectations for projects. 

Cue.....the disguise the turkey project.....Sunday evening 6 pm. 

He had his heart set on creating a Steve Herrington, from Stanger Things, turkey. 

Fresh out of printer ink, we set out on a mission. 

I tried to talk him out of it, pick something easier (turkey in a paper bag, maybe?)

Safe to say, he made it work, and created something that he was so proud of.  (And debatably, very creepy). 

So please welcome, straight out of the upsidedown....Steve Turkey-ton.

In-person meet-ups. 

I am going to be entirely honest, I was not excited about our first in-person meet up this past Summer. 

I knew it was important, but it was also pretty far outside of my comfort zone. 

That first night in NC was the first night that I slept a whole night in a bed by myself in ten years (no exaggeration). 

As the primary parent, and caretaker of a disabled parent, the planning that went into the trip felt mentally heavy and it felt like a chore. 

I was so wrong. 

Connecting with the people who I work with (remotely) every day, IN PERSON, was so worth it. 

And we get to do it again in just under one month. Excited would be a slight understatement. 

Those in-person meet-ups really do impact remote culture, and it has become one of my favorite parts of working Tiello.

It has been a little while since I have done one of these, so lets jump into what is in my day-to-day tech stack. 

For context, I run internal recruitment here Tiello (recruiting recruiters), dabble in marketing and asset creation, and always keep myself sharp on the tools that our recruiters are using in their day-to-day; Should I ever have to jump in. 

Typeform, this one is such an upgrade from google forms when it comes to collecting opinions, ideas, information, and so on. It integrates beautifully, and I love using it for requests. 

Hunter.io and ZoomInfo, these two are BY FAR the best contact scrapers that I have used, both have extensions that I swear by. Hunter has an amazing google sheets extension, and zoominfo has a google chrome extension. 

Canva, this one is my ride or die. I will never not have it. We may get married one day, that is how much I love it. 

Airtable, I use this when I want a user friendly style spreadsheet. The interfaces make it so easy, and on the back end, I can always export as a standard spreadsheet. The free version is solid. 

Magical, not hyped enough. But the template shortcuts literally save me hours. 

And finally, two non-tech essentials that get me through life. White pumpkin scented candles from Bath & Body Works give the fall-vibes at all times. 

And using a candle warmer to keep my coffee warm has been a game-changer.

How are we managing mental load going into the holiday season? 

And I am asking BEFORE we throw a cute little elf that must be moved every night, writes a personalized narrative, and sometimes brings a cute little gift. 

Working parents everywhere are currently balancing Q4 deadlines, holiday school activities, gift shopping, decorating, holiday get together grocery shopping, a modge-podge of viruses, and the list goes on. 

I wanna hear your tips are tricks, cause right now I have sticky notes galore and put a large amount of faith into my calendar apps.

The lack of exaggeration in this post is truly hilarious. 

The weeks leading up to the holidays are what we spend all year training for as parents.

The fundraisers, shopping, theme days, class parties, teacher gifts, 20-minute events (that you will feel awful if you miss), and schedule changes are something resembling pure chaos. 

Society expects parents to work like we do not have kids, and parent like we don't work. 

Remember that no one can be two places at once. No one is doing it all. And anyone who looks like they are doing it all, is likely stressed like the rest of us. 

This season is full of panicked, late-night instacart orders, doordashing treats to the school, sending grandparents to class parties, late nights, early mornings, and calls from the car. 

'Tis the Season.

I didn't have Linkedin Recruiter for the first four months of my recruiting career. 

I am a better recruiter for it. 

I learned hard core boolean search strategies, became AIRS-certified, and could do an x-ray search before chatGPT made it easy. 

I also reached out to candidates based on skillset and keywords. I didn't get lost in focusing only on 'open to work' candidate pools. 

As a result, 90% of my placements in that first year were passive candidates. They were not actively applying, they did not display 'open to work', and they responded to outreach that was not a bulk inmail send. 

Passive candidate outreach will always set you apart as a recruiter. This is where you are building a true network, connecting with sought after skillsets, and playing the long-game. 

Active talent is just that. Active. They are saying yes to conversations. They are applying. They are interviewing. 

Passive talent should be your secret weapon.
