“Rage quit” came up twice this week.

💡Idea: Plan a 'super support week'

Y'all are BURNT OUT

Pick 1 week for a staycation and add ALL the supports. All of them.

1. House cleaning and an organizer
2. Lawn service
3. Laundry service
4. A handyman to knock out the to-do list
5. Grocery delivery
6. Meal delivery
7. Massage therapy and talk therapy
8. Creative outlet time/new hobby time
9. Sleep consultant?
10. And, a financial check-in to reduce money stress

Just take yourself offline for a hot minute, preplan to rest without the guilt.

“We quote you all the time” 

Data and charts can be effective, but they're nothing compared to a well-timed sound byte. 

My client's favorite Emily quote? 

"Your money will be spent. Period. 
By you, now.
By you, later.
By the government (taxes).
By charities 
Or by your kids (inheritance)." 

As chronic "under-spenders" in early retirement, they've needed to remind themselves that the money will be spent. They quoted me to each other as they debated a kitchen remodel, bought a new car, and helped their kids. It helped them get over the retirement hurdle when their paychecks stopped and they started drawing money out of their portfolio.

Some clients need to be armed with data, others need the right words. Most need a mix of both.

Not everything should be optimized 

My kids keep their $$ in a piggy bank instead of a high yield savings account 

Because playing with money is a fun learning experience for them 

I’ve broken several financial planning “rules” this year, and I’m okay with that. How about you?

“I’m bracing for another huge tax bill... tell me what I’m missing.” 

That was the first sentence in this week’s check-in with a client juggling RSUs, freelance income, and severance. We opened their final paystub, reviewed freelance income, pulled data on estimated tax payments made, and fed everything into Holistiplan Scenario Analysis together. 

Within minutes the looming five-figure shortfall melted to a modest balance, and a plan:

-Add to a solo 401k plan for freelance income
-Top off HSA contribution
-Add to a Donor Advised Fund
-Smooth out a taxable inheritance distribution

Clarity replaces anxiety when you run the numbers early and have time left in the calendar year to make an impact.
