Hi, I'm Emil. If you're from Kerala, you might know me as the performance marketing guy. If not, here’s my story…

I wasn't supposed to end up here.

Like most Indian kids, I went the engineering route first. 

Before that, I spent my school days being that overly talkative guy who somehow turned every conversation into a business opportunity - selling t-shirts to teachers and convincing classmates to try health products.

And I’ve done all the cringe stuff as a teenager. After engineering, I knew I had to go for an MBA. 

Though I failed my CAT exam, I luckily got selected for the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. But I decided not to enroll for it. Instead, I did an online crash course.

While my friends got selected for Rs.10-20 lakh per annum packages, my hobbies of photography and videography helped me generate income.

Finally, in 2019, I got my first job with a Rs. 12k/month salary. Not because of my skills but because I was a fresher.

Spent 8.5 years climbing the marketing ladder across different companies, learning everything from performance marketing to client management.

No marketing degree. No business background. Just curiosity and experience that taught me everything.

I stumbled into marketing by accident, but what I saw made me start Dare Network in 2024-

I believe that when someone trusts you with money they probably saved for months, every rupee has to justify itself.

I finally did it.

I stood on the Umagine TN 2026 stage and delivered a keynote about my journey, how everything started, how I stumbled into marketing as an engineer, and how that eventually led to building a company today with a 48–50 member team working with clients across the globe.

To be honest, the moment I got on stage, I was nervous.

This was the first time in my life that I was invited by a state government to speak in front of aspiring students from Tamil Nadu. That feeling was overwhelming in the best possible way.

I had a prepared speech. But the second I started speaking, I forgot everything I had written.

I just spoke from the heart, about the mistakes, the financial struggles, the self-doubt, the negativity in the early years, and the long, uncomfortable phases no one really talks about. Somewhere in between, I realised I wasn’t trying to impress anyone, I was just sharing my truth.

And when I finished, the appreciation I received for my story meant more to me than any title or achievement ever could.

I’m deeply grateful to the Tamil Nadu Government for inviting me and trusting me with that stage.

A special thanks to SRM IST Vadapalani Campus for recommending my name and believing in my journey. I’m truly honoured to be the only alumnus shortlisted from SRM and to represent my college on that stage.

Standing there, I didn’t feel “successful.”

But I felt proud, proud of where I started, proud of how far I’ve come, and proud of the person I’ve become through it all.

This was an emotional, once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. Something I’ll always consider a milestone, not just in my career, but in my life.

99% of marketing agencies are lying to you. They’ll tell you to "start with performance marketing" to test your product. 

Translation: They want you to pay for their learning curve with your hard-earned money.

I’ve worked with 80+ brands. Here is the brutal truth:

If you haven’t sold 50 units organically, your product probably sucks. Or your messaging is broken. Or both.

Performance marketing isn’t a magic wand. If you’re whispering something boring, ads just help you whisper to more people for ₹5L. It’s the most expensive way to find out nobody cares.

We have a strict rule at Dare Network, we don’t work with you unless you’ve sold 50 units first without running any paid ads.

Why? Because if you can’t sell it for free, I can’t sell it with ads.

Ads are for amplifying what’s already working. If nothing is working, keep your money in your pocket and go talk to your customers.

Prove the heart of the business is beating.
Only then should you give an agency a single rupee.

A moment I never planned for, but deeply grateful for ❤️🙏🏻

When I was 14, I became the youngest salesman of the company.

But I wasn’t an employee, I was selling a medicinal juice for Rs 2000.

This is my first sale story,

At the time, I was studying at 9th standard.  I was overweight. 
My uncle bought Noni juice for his diabetes.

After 3 bottles:

→ Lost significant weight 
→ Diabetes completely normal 
→ Full body transformation

I watched this happen. Got curious. 

Started using it myself and lost my weight too.
Then something unexpected happened.

Teachers at school started asking me: "How did you lose weight?"

I told them, "There is a product called Noni Juice, 
it will help to lose weight, it's herbal,"

A bottle cost around Rs 2000 at the time. 
I sold 10 bottles to my teachers.

And the company Noni juice noticed this and they awarded me
the youngest sales person in their company.

That's how my journey started when it comes to selling things.

Today, I work ecommerce stores and D2C brands sell online.

We've generated over crores in revenue for our clients. 

Everything started from selling that bottles from my school.

P.S. What's your first sales story?

I’ve helped Ecommerce brands generate ₹157 Cr in revenue. 
If I had to scale with just ₹2 lakhs, this is the exact playbook I’d follow

Most brands treat small ad budgets like casino chips

Because they had no idea how to structure the campaigns.

Here’s how I’d set 3 campaigns with 2 lakh budget.

Step 1: Testing campaign

Before you scale, you need to find out what actually deserves more money.

If you test 10 products at once, you get zero results.

I’d dedicate ₹3,000/day here to:

- Test 2–3 hero products max.
- Run 3 distinct creative angles.
- Kill the loser products fast

Focus wins before scale does.

Step 2: Scaling Campaign

I’d move ₹2,000/day into scaling ONLY when a product shows stable performance for 7 days straight. 

Most brands scale because they want to. 
We scale because the data forces us to.

If the ROAS isn't there, the money stays in the Testing phase.

Step 3: Catalogue Campaign

This is optional and works best for brands with multiple SKUs.

I’d use the remaining ₹1,000/day for catalogue ads.

Only shown to warm users, this helps identify which products people choose when given options.

If a product pulls consistent clicks and conversions,
it earns a place in Testing, then Scaling.

That’s ₹6,000/day, roughly ₹1.8L/month.

Budgets will vary by brand, product, and industry.
There are no fixed rules for budgeting.

One rule stays constant: data decides where the next rupee goes.

Here are 7 things I wish someone told me earlier:

1. Ads won’t fix a bad product

You can spend ₹10L promoting a 2/10 product and get 1.2 ROAS. 
Or spend the same on a 9/10 product and build a brand.
The first one is a dying business, second one is a growing business.


2. Every second your site takes to load kills 7% of conversions.

For a ₹1Cr/month business, that's ₹7L lost monthly. Over a year? ₹84L handed straight to competitors. Just because your website is slow.

3. Attention gets more expensive every year.

Running the same ads every year is like paying more rent for the same tiny room.CPMs rise ~15–20% YoY. If your creatives don’t evolve, margins disappear.

4. Testing 1 creative a week vs. 10 creatives a week. 

The brand testing 10 finds a "winner" that lowers CAC by 40% every month. The brand testing 1 stays stuck in a "learning phase" loop forever.

5. Founder-led marketing is the ultimate CAC killer in 2026

Organic authority builds trust that a paid ad can never buy. When the founder is the face, the ads work better because the brand feels human, not corporate.

6. SEO is evolving into LLM Optimization

Traditional search is changing. If your brand isn't being cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini, you're losing a massive chunk of the future market. You need to optimize your content not just for Google bots, but for Large Language Models.

7. Don’t fight the algorithm, instead feed it

Let the creative do the targeting. Broad targeting works if your creative is clear. 
The AI knows your audience better than you think.
