I’m a PhD architect who doesn’t just design buildings, but also inspires minds, leads impactful research/simplifies the process, and solves real-world design challenges in the built environment.

With over 18 years of cross-sector experience, I’ve delivered 500+ building projects across educational, residential, religious, and commercial sectors — from concept to construction supervision. My designs consistently win:

🔹 PhD in Architecture (Tropical Daylighting): My research advances indoor environmental quality in institutional buildings, optimizing natural light for healthier, energy-efficient learning spaces.
🔹 Winner – Overall Best Candidate, Nigerian Institute of Architects Professional Practice Exams (Top in 2 of 3 papers; 2nd best in the third).
🔹 Lecturer & Chief Architect, University of Uyo – led the Parks & Gardens Unit, integrating planning, design, and sustainability.
🔹 Principal Architect (Part-time), ED83 – leading design on academic and public buildings.

Beyond the drawing board, I’m deeply committed to mentoring and capacity building. I’ve guided dozens of undergraduate, MSc, and PhD students in 
-architectural design, 
-research methods - quantitative/qualitative/mixed, 
-professional practice, 
-CAD/Revit, and 
-building climatology,
 helping them sharpen skills, win national competitions, and reduce dropout rates.
- Guided +50 mentees to full Architect licensure In the last 2 years.

📚 My recent research focuses on daylighting, energy performance, post-occupancy evaluation, architectural education and sustainability, with my last 3 papers published in Q1-ranked international architecture journals with high impact factors.

PhD students do not sleep
Should it be so? Me: NO 
PhD shouldn’t make sleep a luxury 

I understand in PhD:
→ Unclear expectations = endless work
→ Weak supervision = repeated mistakes
→ Funding pressure = constant anxiety
→ Evaluation by output alone = burnout culture

But we can address this:
→ Define scope early and defend it
→ Train supervisors, not just students
→ Align funding, timelines, and workload
→ Reward quality thinking, not visible exhaustion
→ Develop good time management/ balance training
→ Make good mental healthcare accessible 

I think:
—Sleep loss is a symptom, not the disease
—Fix the system variables, and the behavior changes

15 micro habits every PhD actually needs 
Designed for depth, not burnout 
(Which one stands out)

1. Protect 2–3 hours daily for uninterrupted thinking and analysis.
2. Read 1–2 core papers or chapters per day, slowly and with notes.
3. Write 300–500 words most days, even if rough.
4. Revisit and document your methods weekly, not only when writing.
5. Maintain one living document of open research questions, updated daily.
6. Cap focused work at about 6–7 hours per day; more rarely improves quality.
7. Publish only when a clear contribution can be stated in one paragraph.
8. Decline tasks that consume more than 10 percent of weekly thinking time without clear value.
9. Limit social media to 20–30 minutes per day, outside deep-work hours.
10. Check metrics quarterly at most; never use them as daily motivators.
11. When stuck, spend 30 minutes returning to first principles before seeking shortcuts.
12. Schedule at least one substantive meeting with your supervisor every 4–6 weeks.
13. Walk 30–60 minutes daily or aim for 5–7 km per day.
14. Protect at least 3 evenings per week for friends or family.
15. Evaluate progress monthly by insights gained, not outputs produced.
