A client just told me they're sponsoring 10 employees for visas.

Not one. Not two. Ten.

I had to ask twice.

Here's what they said:
"Over the last 12 months working in the business, they've all proven to be reliable and good at what they do. For us, it was a no-brainer."

In my experience, most companies treat sponsorship like a last resort. One engineer here, one designer there - usually only when they've exhausted the local market or the skillset is so niche they've got no other option.

This company flipped it.

They didn't sponsor first and hope for the best. 

They gave overseas hires a 12-month runway to prove themselves. Then backed the ones who delivered.

That's not charity. That's smart retention.

Because here's what actually happens when you don't sponsor good people - they leave. 

They find someone who will. And you're back running ads, wondering where all the good engineers went.

And if you're a company sitting on talented people who need sponsorship and you're dragging your feet, someone else won't.
