The Liberty in Augmentation Foundation (LiA) is a pro-transhumanism NGO that supports the active development of prosthetics and bionics and stands strong to allow you to live your life without fear of limitation.

There are four main pillars of focus:

Freedom of choice - 
Our bodies are our own. Just like we can decide what job we apply for, what college we want to join, we should be able to decide what we do with our bodies. If the situation warrants an amputation to put an end to your chronic pain, who has the right to deny you that? 

Raise subsidies for bionics research -
We believe that the human body has been a strong foundation that got us to where we are now. However, to improve our prosthetics we need to have higher subsidies for bionics research so that we can create more life-like limbs and organs and give everyone the chance to live their life to the fullest, and possibly even more comfortably than with a biological limb. 

Reduce medical insurance costs -
Currently, the US, Luxembourg, and Switzerland rank highest in medical bills and it is only rising further. To give every amputee on this planet a fair chance to have a prosthetic, we need to create more comfortable payment plans, reduce production costs, and make insurers look at the patient's unique circumstances thereby avoiding a generalized solution.

Increase awareness about prosthetics - 
People that have recently lost a limb, for example, soldiers, are often written and spoken about but quickly forgotten. It's the phase that happens after the amputation and the initial grief that the world needs to learn about. The financial troubles that come with a prosthetic, the pain, the suppression of that pain with drugs, and the constant feeling of being 'looked at' are common issues. We aim to bring this to light around the world, and that these people need our help and care.

These were the first few comments of my first beta reader going through my novel. 

It's scary presenting something to a complete strange on which you've worked for about 2 years. 

You keep wondering: "After all this work, all this time, what if they don't like it?".

But once you take that dive into the unknown, you realize that there are fans of your works out there. They are able to give you the reassurance you need.

After writing the story, I came face to face with months of editing. This is such a magical moment where you really begin to shape the metaphorical clay. 

But it also came with dangers. If you change even the smallest details in earlier chapters, you need to make sure they match up in the later ones.

If you remove a key in a character's pocket in Chapter 3, they shouldn't be able to open that specific door or car in Chapter 12 later on.

Forget this, and readers will notice. This will pull them out of your world immediately. The opposite of what you want to happen!

My professors in the course, Adam David Miller and Maynard Hearns helped me understand more about the intricate details of writing narrative for games.

Every assignment was graded and received in-depth feedback alongside live classes.

I learned to:
👉 Think in game design and how to make a story work for gamers to play through.

👉 Avoid ludonarrative dissonance which can create conflict between the story and gameplay.

👉 Create environmental storytelling which makes a game come alive with tiny details and stories. For example: a burnt teddy bear in a destroyed house, a letter on a desk, a fallen soldier clutching a ring.

👉 Think in terms of player agency and what meaningful choices a player can make in the story.

👉 Write the player's Golden Path, the ideal and intended player route to complete the main story. Also the Critical Path - Doing the absolute minimum to finish the main game.

👉 Develop branching narratives where player choices shape the story (i.e. evil vs. good).

👉 Create game cinematic scripts to help support the cinematography and story.

👉 Write dialogue trees, bark sheets, flavor text.

Learning to think like a game designer while writing story and creating the systems that deliver the story helped me to become a stronger writer for both the game designers and the players themselves.
