Last year was great. Was going to write a massive post about all the cool things, but there were so many that it would take me, legit, a full day to type it all out.

So here's a bulleted list of some that are top of mind:

✅ Spend 3 weeks in Europe and Dubai with my wife and kids (France > Germany > Italy > Spain > Greece > Dubai)
✅ Finished building a lake front vacation home I've been day dreaming and motioning to bring to life for years

✅ Had my biggest business day, selling ~$100,000 on the backend of a day

Man, there's so much, and I know I'm missing a ton more, but what an amazing life this is.

I get excited when I see someone bet on themselves.

Any time there's a shop I go to that I found out is a new business, I send go back after buying and bring them a copy of my SEO book and a little "thank you" package to support them.

I've done this with a new:

✅ chiropractor, who I now go to regularly
✅ autoimmune clinics, that I now visit
✅ new coffee shops in town

Latest was where I took our new ATV to be serviced for our cabin to be serviced, at Hansen Powersports in Kaysville, UT. Found out they had been open only about a month.

Late 20's, early 30's guy and his wife. Both smiles, positive attitude.

He wanted to bet on himself, and build something he could be proud to sponsor his 2 year old as he grows into motorsports, and pass on a legacy to him at some point.

My people.

When I picked up our ATV I brought him a signed copy of my book with a personal note. A week later I sent him cookies wishing him continued success with his new (and first) business.

Recently received a thank you note from them.

Sad, yet amazing day. My longest client ever just canceled at over 18 years.

August 12, 2007 was their first invoice for $4.95.

$2,368/month for the last half dozen years.

We watched them grow from a small ~5,000 sq ft facility to multiple ~50,000 sq ft facilities over the years.

Clients almost never cancel because of performance. In the rare case we can't get a win, I comp some time and concede before the client ever has to.

Most clients cancel because:

❌ they run into growing pains after growing too much
❌ they blow up and get acquired, and the new owners kick us to the curb
❌ a new sheriff comes in and "fixes" everything that isn't broken

The later is this client. 🫤

However, this new sheriff at least the nicer of any over the years. He's just not a business guy and doesn't "get it," what we're doing, despite SEO driving over 50% of their traffic.

But what an amazing story and relationship.

So grateful to serve at this level for this long.

Haven't made less than $100,000 month in about five years. But this screenshot shows how much I made the first year I started my own business in 2007... $514.

👉 The second year I made $9,730.10.

👉 Third year = $44,213.44.

In 2010, my fourth year I hit my first "six figures" at $111,847.65.

Catch that? FOUR YEARS to get to what all the fake experts say happens over night.

Fifth year I nearly doubled it to $211,706.85.

Sixth year = $319,915.19

⚠️ Success isn't a straight line...

Seventh year I dropped a bit to $289,296.32.

Eight year I dropped more to $219,395.80.

That’s $100,000 a year I lost in two years.

Ninth year came back up a bit to $281,119.55.

10th year I nearly doubled again to $436,094.05.

🏆 2-3 years after that I hit a million/year.

A DECADE.

It took me over a decade of late nights, early mornings, and sacrifices to hit a million annually.

There are certainly people that grew faster than I did, but this is the reality for most entrepreneurs. And anyone that tells you otherwise is selling you a dream.

There's a famous quote that says something like "Overnight success takes about a decade," and it's true.

You're either in it for the long haul because you want what you want bad enough, and it's worth it to you, or it's not.

Either way you're right.

All the bro-marketers about to be marketing, distracting you with the next shiny object that you need to move all your ads yesterday.

Client left, then came back.

This client canceled about a year ago.

This one wasn't a new sheriff, or random cancel. The client just wanted a change of pace. He decided to "retire" from his landscaping business. Wanted to try a 9-5 job.

After working for someone else for about 6 months, he realized he was meant to stay an entrepreneur.

However, he had shut down his site, canceled his hosting, and deleted everything.

After he asked if we'd take him back, we pulled backups, reclaimed his domain, submitted a Change of Address from his old domain to his new one (he wanted to expand services, so a new domain made sense more than the previous domain limiting it to landscaping).

You can see within just a few months, he's back at #1, with ~100 more across the rest of page 1 of Google.

Love a good client redemption story.

The other day was "AI Wins Day," or something.

1 - Presented to Russell Brunson’s mastermind on how to optimize for AI.

2 - Had a call with a lead about optimizing their multi-hundred million dollar businesses and clients of professional rappers, musicians, and athletes to show up in AI.

3 - And the attached screenshot... a favorite SEO client messaged us a win. They received their first formal lead from AI optimization.
