Here’s a lie many of us quietly believe:

It’s "too late"

I’ve met people who waited for the right age,
the right confidence,
the right moment.

That moment rarely shows up.

What actually works is starting messy.
Starting unsure.
Starting without the full plan.

Most progress I’ve seen didn’t come from feeling ready.
It came from deciding not to wait.

You don’t need perfect timing.
You need a first step.

When they ask for 10 years experience by 20, you just gotta start them young 

Job postings in 2025 are wild.

They want 10 years experience before age 20.

It's like they want to hire unicorns.

Here's what I learned after 8 years building teams:

- Experience matters less than ability to learn
- Fresh grads often outperform seasoned pros
- Skills beat years on a resume

The real problem?

Companies are scared of training people.

They'd rather wait months for the perfect candidate.

Meanwhile great talent sits on the sidelines.

Smart hiring managers focus on these instead:

1️⃣ Problem-solving ability during interviews
2️⃣ Willingness to learn new tools quickly
3️⃣ Communication skills over job titles
4️⃣ Portfolio work over years listed

Stop looking for experience.

Start looking for potential.

The best marketers I know learned on the job.

And stop letting ridiculous job postings scare you away.

Apply anyway.

The worst thing that happens is they say no.

But sometimes they'll see your potential instead.

Whether it’s:

→ A team
→ A relationship

If you’re not being valued - it’s time to move on.

You know your worth.

You know what you bring.

If others can’t see it, that’s not on you.

So going into the new year:

1) Make space for joy, not just survival.
2) Stay in rooms where your voice matters.
3) Be around people who light up when you walk in.
4) Choose spaces that build you up, not wear you down.
5) Work with those who back your ideas, not just nod along.

Life’s too short to convince people of your value.

1. Treat every meeting like a lab 
Not a stage. 
You run small tests, you listen, you adjust.

2. Say the quiet sentence that builds trust 
“I might be missing something.” 
This gives others permission to speak up.

3. Make learning visible 
Share what you changed your mind about. 
Teams copy what leaders model.

4. Reward the truth, not the comfort 
When someone disagrees with you, thank them. 
You just bought better decisions.

5. Turn mistakes into assets 
Do a simple debrief. 
What happened. 
What caused it. 
What changes next time.

Innovation needs two things.

New ideas.

Most people avoid being teachable for two reasons:

1. Ego 
They tie being wrong to being less valuable.

2. Vulnerability 
They fear losing status.

The fix is simple.

You stop trying to look smart.
You start trying to get it right.

That shift changes everything.
