Lean Procurement delivers the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Graduate Diploma. CIPS is the leading body of knowledge globally in procurement and supply chain management.

Our virtual classroom training gives procurement personnel the tools and knowledge necessary to understand the importance of internal engagement with non-procurement departments, maximise the value and long-term costs of supplier spend and understand each part of the procurement process.

Classes are held each Friday morning and Tuesday and Thursday evenings depending on the CIPS Level. The sessions are interactive with online quizzes, group exercises in breakout rooms and discussions from students’ from many different countries and sectors to share their stories and experiences.

It’s been fantastic to see Mazen complete his CIPS Level 4 Qualification with Lean Procurement. As with any demanding programme, there were moments of doubt and the challenge of balancing other responsibilities.

Mazen showed real perseverance, completing all eight exams: each covering critical foundations of procurement such as compliance, negotiation, contracting, and stakeholder management. This is a tremendous achievement and only the beginning of his journey.

Nearly all CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply students won't recognise the modules below, but these used to be the modules of what was called the Foundation stage of the CIPS qualification, the 'F1', 'F2' etc denoting the module number.

It's been a long time since I saw the exams that I took back in 2002, but they are now available with the new functionality on the CIPS website.

After the Foundation level was complete it was then onto the Professional level, no Levels 3, 4, 5 or 6 back then.

In comparison to the the current syllabus the bedrock of best practice procurement and supply chain management is on the whole there.

Only now many other modules have been formed such as the electives at Levels 5 and 6 to offer more specialism in areas such as innovation, data management and other technical subjects.

Much more emphasis is also placed on strategy where there was only a single module that covered this important area.

I still shudder at the sight of PSCMIII: Legal Aspects at the Professional Stage, those in the know would remember that this one was tough, extremely tough.

This syllabus framework concluded mid 2013, then the familiar level numbers kicked in offering a standard five modules for each level until mid 2019 - D1, D2, etc.

From there the modules within the levels were completely revamped with the now familiar L4M1, L4M2 etc.

But that was me, and that was in the past - there have been many changes since then but vision remains the same - starting your CIPS Qualification opens doors from the knowledge obtained

CIPS has a database of assessed qualifications (degrees, diplomas, and others). If yours is listed, exemptions may already be pre-approved.

NOTE - Your other qualification MUST have been obtained within the last FIVE years.

✅ Step 3: Apply via the MyCIPS portal

Submit your application with proof of your qualification. If your award isn’t listed, you can still apply — CIPS will assess it individually.

💡 Top tip:

Exemptions aren’t automatic. You’ll need to apply before booking exams. And some modules must be taken regardless of prior study.
