I've never told this story publicly before

But if there was ever a time, it's now.


Growing up, my parents always compared me to other children.

My dad had a specific word for me "You are a fool"

It wasn't once, it wasn't in the heat of an argument

It was just consistent and I believed it.


I always felt out of place,

Like I was one move away from messing up completely.

So I did what any kid in that situation does, I tried harder

I chased people's approval
I wanted to be in the popular cliques
I wanted to be loved

But I never got to feel it.


In secondary school, 

I rolled with the bad and coolest guys, but I could still go back home to family

So it didn't show that much.

But when I entered university everything I had been running from was waiting for me there.

I found the coolest clique to roll with again so I could finally "be seen and loved."

But I was nobody on my own and deep down, I knew it.


What happened next was the darkest chapter of my life.

I went through 

Existential crisis
Depression
Heavy pornography addiction
Womanizing
Joining more bad cliques

I did things I wasn't proud of

I stopped going to classes

Then I dropped out. I ran away from school,

My family was trying to find me while I was out there making mistake after mistake.

And the worst part?

I didn't know why.

I didn't know that all of this, every bad decision, every escape, every desperate search for belonging

Was because I was battling an internal trauma of not feeling good enough.

Not good enough for people
Not good enough for anything.

But thank God I realized it.

And I found healing in a very unconventional way.

Not therapy
Not a program

It was the love of God that healed me completely.

A love that didn't compare me to anyone.

That didn't need me to perform or prove anything.

I'll talk more about this in another post.


But Fam, this is why this project is so important to me.

This is why I'm giving everything I have to make this work

Because I have lived through this myself.

I know what unhealed childhood trauma costs.

It cost me my Education, my Dignity, Years of my Life.

So when I tell you this film matters, I'm not speaking as a Producer

I'm speaking as someone who lived through exactly what this film is about.


There are thousands of people right now in the same place I was.

Making decisions they don't understand
Destroying their lives and not knowing why.

This film won't fix everything.

I’ve been quietly building something important.

And I’m finally ready to share it.


Over the past few years, I’ve worked closely with founders across Africa.

Some brilliant.
Some scrappy.
Some already generating real traction.

But I kept seeing the same painful pattern.

Not failure because they weren’t smart.

Not failure because the idea was weak.

Failure because the company itself wasn’t built to survive pressure, or earn serious capital.

Most had

- Messy foundations.
- Weak leverage.
- Unclear economics.
-  Fragile growth.
- And fundraising treated like a miracle instead of a discipline.


I’ve been part of conversations where founders lost deals they deserved.

I’ve watched great businesses dilute too early.

I reviewed a pitch deck on Monday Night.

2:47 AM couldn't sleep because I was worried

The Founder had sent it in to me on Saturday asking for quick feedback before he pitched on Wednesday

By slide 4, I knew exactly what would happen in that room.

He was going to get a "No."


This wasn't a bad founder.

Smart guy, built the product himself.

He already has real customers and real revenue.


The ask was reasonable: $100M seed round.

But the deck told a different story.

It told the story of someone hoping to be funded.

Not someone inevitable.

In Africa, we're raised to be humble.

To not "oversell."

To let the work speak for itself.

That works when you're building, but it fails when you're raising.

Because in that 15-minute meeting, you're not being judged on your humility.

You're being judged on whether your company can survive the next 18 months without them.

And if they invest, whether you'll waste their money or multiply it.


I told him to delete 10 of his 14 slides.

He looked at me like I was insane.

"But those explain the market... the opportunity... the vision..."

I said: "Exactly. They explain what you hope will happen. Not what's actually happening."


Here's what we replaced them with

1. We deleted the generic $10B Market slide. (Every investor knows the market is big).

We replaced it with a "Why Now" catalyst.

Instead of: "Africa is the future of Fintech."

We wrote: "A new regulation passed in January. 40 million people just became accessible. We are the only ones with the infrastructure ready to serve them."


2. We deleted the "5-Year Projections." (Nobody believes them anyway).

We replaced it with the Economics of One Transaction.

If you can’t prove you can turn $1 into $3 in a single village or city, $250k won't help you. It will just help you burn faster.


3. We deleted the "Total Downloads" chart.

We replaced it with Retention Cohorts.

I’d rather see 1,000 users who use the app daily than 100,000 who haven't logged in since February.

Investors don't fund "hype"; they fund habit.


4. We deleted the "Salaries & Marketing" pie chart.

We replaced it with Milestone Funding.

We showed exactly how that $250k would buy the next 3 pieces of data he needs to raise his Series A at a 5x valuation.


The Result? The tone changed instantly.

He stopped looking like a founder asking for a favor

He started looking like an operator offering a partnership.


At Mathetes Capitals, we don't just "fix decks."

We strip away the "Founder's Hope" until all that's left is Institutional Signal.

Because here's what most founders don't realize is

You're not pitching an idea to Investors,

You're pitching your ability to Win with or without their Investment.

You’ve been “fundraising” for 8 months. You are no closer to a term sheet than you were in June 2025.

You’ve pivoted twice,

Not because of market data. But because you got distracted by a new "big idea."


You hired a new developer last year

Then couldn't pay them on time.

Now they're gone.

And you're back to doing everything yourself.

Your Co-Founder isn't physically tired, they are just emotionally tired.


Tired of:

- Meetings that don't lead to decisions
- Priorities that change every week
- Plans that never get executed
- Promises about funding that never materialize
- Working this hard with nothing to show for it


And here's what you haven't said out loud

You're tired too.

3. True Metrics: Tracking what matters, not what feels good.

And belief is what keeps the team together.

This is my shift from hustle to institutional momentum.

Because at some point, if you’re serious, you realize:

You don’t scale hype.
You scale discipline.

You don’t build credibility by sounding loud.
You build it by becoming undeniable.

So the conversation has to change for us:

You've got to

Stop chasing investors andstart earning inevitability.
Stop selling promises and start producing signal.
Stop trying to look like a founder and start becoming an operator.

Honestly, you have got to be prayerful as a Founder

And don't treat Prayer as some ritual,


Treat it as a Survival Gear.

Because the Market Place is more spiritual than you think it is.


I've seen a Founder friend staring at "runway death"

He stopped hustling for 48 hours, locked himself up and prayed hard to God.

2 days later, a warm intro from a "forgotten" contact turned into a bride round that got him $100k his Startup desperately needed.

You can call it Divine Timing or whatever you want.

He calls it answered prayer.


Prayer works!

Yes I know you know, but stop treating God as a "last resort" when the bank account hits zero.

Put Him in the driver's seat today.

And your Life as a Founder will be a lot easier.

You weren't called to build this Business alone.

Instagram hates us because we’re "too stiff."
X hates us because we’re "too corporate."

But there’s a science to the madness.

In a global economy, Perception is the first layer of Due Diligence. 

If you don't take your "Digital Real Estate" seriously, why should any client or investor take your company seriously?


Stop apologizing for being a "thorough professional."

Yes, your job description is over-optimized.
Yes, your headline is a bit dramatic.

 Jobs, Subscriptions, memberships, SaaS, steady monthly inflows.

4. Quarterly Recurring Revenue (QRR)
 Contracts, consulting cycles, seasonal retainers.

5. Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)
 Long-term subscriptions, licensing, royalties, long-term deals, Assets.


Most people haven’t mastered even one of these levels.

Or rely on one unstable layer, usually monthly or random one-offs.

So their money stays emotional.
Stressful.
Reactive.

I’m done living like that.

Instead of chasing random income, I’m deliberately mastering one level at a time.

Right now, I’m obsessed with Daily Recurring Revenue.

Over the last 45 days, I’ve sold 350+ digital products

Products I created with AI, packaged once, and now sell repeatedly.

No endless client calls.

But... Although execution is great, "Execution" alone does not make you investable.

Investors are not impressed that you are “working hard.”

• Clear unit economics
• Risk mitigation
• Governance structure
• Strategic clarity

Execution is only valuable when it produces measurable, defensible structure.

You can execute for 3 years and still not be fundable.

Because capital does not reward effort.

But as an avid AI user who lives in these tools every day, I’m not just reading his words

I’m feeling the ground shake beneath my own feet.

Seeing what AI can do right now is both terrifying and the most exhilarating thing I've ever experienced.


I’ve spent the last 12 months pushing AI to the limit.

I used to think of it as a "super-intern." 

Someone to draft emails or summarize long PDFs.

But in the last few weeks "especially since the Feb 5th releases" that mental model has been shattered.


It’s scary to realize your "unique" edge is now a commodity.

But it's amazing to realize what you can build when that edge is now your starting line.


We are moving from the era of the Operator to the era of the Architect.

The "technical" work is being swallowed by the machine.

If your value is purely in "doing," your value is approaching zero.


You cannot afford to be a spectator.

In 2026, "waiting to see" is just a slow-motion exit from the economy.


I am currently re-engineering every single system in my life and business.

It’s uncomfortable
It’s disorienting. 

But the alternative "clinging to a world that no longer exists" is far more dangerous.


The future isn't knocking, it’s already in the room.

- The founder rewriting a pitch for the 100th time

I don’t see hustlers.

I see Artisans.


There is a specific, quiet dignity in deciding that your work isn't just a transaction.

It’s a signature.


"Hustle" is about the speed of the take, it chases outcomes.
"Craft" is about the quality of the build, respects process.

Hustle is loud and urgent.
Craft is patient and inevitable.

And the reality is that the market eventually filters for excellence. 

↳ A hustle has a shelf life, it dies out.
↳ A craft creates Legacy, it compounds.


When you shift your identity from a "Hustler" to a "Builder," your relationship with the struggle changes.

The 2 a.m. sessions don't feel like "suffering" anymore, they feel like Refining.

The rejection isn't a "setback" anymore, it’s Pressure Testing.

You stop asking, “How fast can this work?”

And start asking, “How good can this become?”

That question alone changes your trajectory.


If you are in the "messy middle" right now, keep going. But change your lens:

Stop looking for the shortcut.
Start looking for the standard.

Master the atomic units of what you do.

The world is loud, but it always gets quiet for a master of their craft.
