When you integrate a sales or marketing tool through HubSpot or whatever, have you ever actually read what permissions they're asking for?
 
Not skimmed. READ.
 
"Read and write to contacts, companies, deals, pipelines, users, tasks, and activities."
 
Your. Entire. CRM.
 
"Wait... what?"
 
Let's talk about what happens next.
 
You deploy their pixel. It fires a few scripts. Pretty standard stuff... you can see the vendor name right there in the URL. ZoomInfo, Clearbit, whatever.
 
But there's always one more script.
 
One that's just... a random string of letters and numbers.

No vendor name.
No identifiable markers.

Just gibberish loading from some domain you've never heard of.
 
But when you actually decode what that script is doing, you find out it's the same vendor. They just didn't want you to know.
 
And when you test the endpoint it's sending data to?
 
It accepts everything.

No authentication.
No subscription validation.

Nothing.
 
Which means when you cancel your subscription and dutifully remove all their "official" scripts from your site...
 
That backdoor is still there. Still collecting. Still sending your visitor data. Still feeding their platform.
 
And remember those CRM permissions you agreed to?
 
Those don't auto-revoke when you cancel either.
 
So now you're in a situation where:
 
• You're not paying them anymore
• You can't access their platform anymore
• But they're still harvesting your website visitors AND your deal pipeline
• And selling that intelligence to everyone
• Including your competitors
 
And you have no clue until somebody randomly stumbles across that script. 

So let me ask you: When's the last time you looked? What about your security team? They real pumped about analyzing marketing tech scripts? 

...that's what I thought.

Call it whatever you want.
Be a vendor apologist.

Doesn't change the fact that this is this is 100% pure data exfiltration... and you're paying them to do it.

These vendors are selling your CRM data to your competitors and anybody that'll pay them for it. 

This is what CAC subsidization looks like. 
This is why MarTech is an unmonitored attack surface.
This is why GTM tech is a MATERIAL THREAT TO REVENUE
