Christopher is the CEO and Co-founder of Providend Ltd and has more than two decades of experience in the wealth management and financial planning industry. 

Christopher is often quoted in the local press, as well as financial magazines for his expert opinion on financial matters. Local and regional broadcast medias have also interviewed him on issues relating to personal finance.

Since the beginning of his career, Christopher has spoken to hundreds of entities. Christopher is also an internationally sought-after speaker and trainer in countries such as Indonesia, China, and Mauritius, where he spoke to policy makers in Mauritius Financial Services Commission on the strategic issues facing the wealth management industry. He also lectured on Strategy in the MSc of Marketing Programme at University of Warwick as well as for the MBA programme at Fudan University in China. Christopher has also trained many private bankers in China for 5 years. Locally, he has spoken at the CFA Institute Annual Conference and is a regular speaker with Singapore’s National Financial Education Programme, MoneySENSE. Christopher has also lectured on the Certified Financial Planner programme as well as on financial planning topics with various education institutions. 

Roles / Appointments: 

- Appointed by the Singapore Government as one of 13 panelists on the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Advisory Panel to study possible enhancements to the CPF system.

- Sits on the management committee of Securities Investors Association of Singapore (SIAS), which promotes investor education and investor rights in Singapore.

- Co-author of "Estate Planning Made Easy"​, published by Sweet & Maxwell Asia, and "The Singapore Master Financial Planning Guide" published by CCH Asia Pte Ltd as well as author of Money Wisdom by Write Editions

- Frequent speaker at seminars, including CFA Institute Annual Conference, the Annual Indexing & ETF Investment Summit Asia, and others, both local and overseas.

In Singapore’s financial planning industry, the commission-based model often gives rise to a conflict of interest and hence many financial products are being sold through poor financial advice. I believe that advisers who could give honest and independent advice are commissions-free. Therefore, I founded Providend and established it as the first Fee-Only Wealth Advisory firm in Singapore since 2003, where advisers work on a fee-only basis.
 
Beyond my passion and conviction to right the wrongs in the wealth management industry, I also believe that it’s never just about building and preserving wealth—it’s about your entire life. With more than two decades of experience in the wealth management and financial planning industry, Providend has come to be known as a retirement specialist.

As some of you know, I wrote an article on ILPs in Sep 2025 which sparked many responses from the industry. I was actually quite taken aback with the backlash. The article was actually written after a MoneyFM interview on ILPs in that same month.

So MoneyFM decided to interview me again to hear my thoughts about the responses I received. This second interview by MoneyFM was done on 12 Nov 2025. Sharing the link here for those who are interested to listen to it.

I think I have said enough on this topic, at least for now. I will leave it for consumers to decide for themselves if ILPs are suitable for them.
