Build a narrow audience and highlight your differentiators. Speak to them as personally as possible. Share content that demonstrates your understanding of their uniqueness. It won't take long to grow a legitimate influencer brand.

Of course, as your audience grows by 10+ targeted people every day, it is imperative that you understand who is gravitating to your message and ready to engage. For almost a quarter-century, my professional mission has been to empower financial advisors to make a meaningful difference in their clients' lives. Over these years, I've supported these professionals in enhancing their business growth and marketing endeavors. I've observed firsthand how rapidly their strategies and tools evolve to cater to the shifting habits of their specialized audiences, particularly when it comes to the research and purchasing process.

💡 In a business built on relationships, being nice still matters.

During my conversation with Darren Hinshaw, CFA of NBC Securities, Inc., he shared a lesson he used to teach his kids - one that every advisor should take to heart:

“Make sure you’re friends with everybody. You never know who you’ll run into 25 years down the line, and they’ll remember if you were nice.”

That’s it. Simple, timeless advice. 
Our industry may revolve around portfolios, planning, and performance - but at its core, it’s about people. How you treat colleagues, managers, and clients will follow you. Your reputation travels faster than any marketing campaign.

Darren’s right - this is a small industry. Be generous with introductions. Give freely. And trust that the good you put out there will find its way back.
