Manage the Corporate Secretariat and Legal Affairs, driving departmental progress and aligning resources to meet organizational needs. Develop and oversee the annual departmental plan, budget, and staffing strategy, optimizing productivity through effective team allocation, coaching, and support.

Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team, offering insights on social and health insurance laws, corporate governance, and compliance. Conduct governance analyses and draft policy proposals to address evolving regulatory requirements and organizational goals.

Lead the development and review of policy initiatives, ensuring alignment with our strategy. Update Administrative Organization/Internal Control (AO/IC) documentation to drive continuous process improvement according to SZV standards.

Craft and implement stakeholder engagement strategies, conducting analyses to identify key perspectives and designing communication plans that foster positive relationships with internal and external partners.

Organize and support Executive Team meetings by preparing agendas, presentations, and follow-ups, and managing the Director's agenda to align with priorities while ensuring discretion and efficiency.

Oversee the department’s document management, ensuring a structured archive for digital and physical records, accurate record-keeping, and prompt retrieval. Supervise correspondence and document processing to ensure timely responses and effective stakeholder coordination.

Provide legal advice to support risk mitigation for the Executive Team. Manage LAR objections and assist the legal advisor in representing SZV in legal matters to protect organizational interests.

Advise the Executive Board on corporate governance, compliance, and policy to uphold statutory and regulatory requirements related to social and health insurance laws.

Policy Advisor for the Department of Public Health within the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour.

Developing policy in broad and complex policy areas by following and analyzing health, social and political developments;
Identifies and analyzes bottlenecks within existing policy, formulates policy alternatives, and draws up policy memoranda, advice, reports, plans, risk analyses, action plans, project proposals, etc.;
Ensures a structured evaluation of the policy, assesses the effectiveness of the policy measures and advises on the continuation or amendment of policy or regulations;
Develops models, policy frameworks and instruments for the implementation, quality assurance and evaluation of policy and makes proposals for legislation;
Developing instruments and procedures for the monitoring the implementation of policy;
Monitoring and guiding of the implementation of policy and change processes and advises on adjustments;
Provides key data for budget and other financial matters;
Advises on complex adminstrative and legal issues;
Management of multidisciplinary projects through project plan development, priority setting, and coordination;
Supervises and consults with relevant authorities and organizations within and outside of the organizations unit of the Government of Sint Maarten for the research, proposal and implementation of policy;
Follows, analyzes and assesses developments in various policy areas, and on the basis of this formulates policy proposals and advices for the department head and other committees;  
Supporting colleagues by acting a point of contact and source of information for the day to day execution of work.

Policy Advisor

Supporting administration of Credit & Collections, Account Receivable (OTC) activities and tasks to collect credit information, maintain records and collect overdue debts to minimize outstanding and achieve compliance in line with internal and external policies and standards, regulations and compliance requirements.

In my role, I play a pivotal part in developing comprehensive policies by closely monitoring and analyzing health, social, and political developments. I excel in identifying and addressing existing policy bottlenecks, formulating effective alternatives, and drafting insightful policy memoranda, reports, and action plans. My responsibilities also extend to evaluating policy effectiveness, proposing legislative measures, and overseeing the implementation of policies.

My proficiency in project management, leadership, and problem-solving is evident in my ability to manage multidisciplinary projects effectively. I excel in fostering collaboration, both with government and external stakeholders, to ensure the successful execution of policy initiatives.
