Pain is a great motivator (perhaps the greatest).
Time bound urgency is also a good one.  

After years of flirting with buying a walking pad treadmill for my standing desk, I just bought one yesterday.  

Because: 

1. Pain: I hurt my back last week and concluded I need to sit less and get stronger. 

2. Time bound Urgency: It was Cyber Monday and there was a discount. 

Add the two together, and now I am the proud owner of a standing desk treadmill. And hopefully a stronger core. 


I've also learned not to suddenly pick my child up by his legs from a seated position on a soft couch right after waking up from a long nap in that shockingly cold city called Chicago.

Calendar blocking has never worked for me.  Because I always need to maximize open space on my calendar for people to book meetings. 

BUTTTT... "Progressive Time Blocking" does. It's fluid and in conjunction with what I know are my top priorities every day, works. 

Here's how I do it...I block as I go. In as little as 15 minute increments. Check out the screenshot of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
