Fist Bump started because we used Excel spreadsheets to organize commenting on prospect's LinkedIn post activity for my sales rep clients when we helped them with social selling.  But, Fist Bump expanded into a full service go-to-market and revenue creation consulting service AND a technology platform. 

We created a modern Revenue Operation System called The Revenue Zone Model based on my partner Tom Burton's book, The Revenue Zone. 

Here is what we found to be true and leads us as we serve companies with revenue creation and demand generation activities. 

👊🏽 Revenue creation and sales have gotten really freakin' challenging. The outreach methods that I use to love because they were very successful for me with my previous companies like cold calling, cold email, direct mail and trade shows, were not producing results like they use to and this is a problem for sales teams and business owners. 

👊🏽 Social tools like LinkedIn, are best used as a networking platform. What I mean by this is our personal brand is based on our activity on LinkedIn. We need to use our social post activity and commenting activity more like a networking event rather than a cold call.  The cold pitch slap messages are annoying. 

👊🏽 The Buyer experience is everything. Buyers know this too. It's hard to capture and retain their attention and create new opportunities. But, this is where we found BIG success for our clients.

The right fusion of modern digital marketing, utilizing episodic content like live shows, podcasts and webinars mixed with strategic personal brand building activities by key team members in all departments -- this is the key.

This is a fun opportunity. I get to do two of my favorite things. I am building marketing programs for distributor members to market in their local territories. I love creating marketing programs at scale for a network of unique companies. I have done this my entire career. 

I also get to utilize my inner techy nerd. I have lead research, acquisition and implementations of a new cloud-based ERP, website and member portal.

Additionally, I also wear the CMO hat and have been tasked to re-energize the brand which includes implementing new brand strategy, new messaging and content strategy and updating systems for communicating with distributor members and prospecting for new members. 

I have led the teams for building a new web experience like the website, membership portal and online education distributor training for all things sales and marketing (not product training).  

My roles as a fractional Transformation Officer scratches my 3 key areas of experience and passion. Technology, revenue creation and marketing. 

Along with my role as the co-host of Social Selling for Newbies podcast, I get to train and lead all social selling training and coaching to our internal team and our expanded distributor sales rep network. I lead the creation of SocialSellingHQ.com community. It is a free community where we share and discuss all things virtual, digital and social selling for B2B and professional services.

My consulting, training and coaching services have focused on helping teams with sales operations, sales enablement playbooks and go-to-market strategies. Over the past 5 years, it has included helping teams with digital transformation including CRMs, ERP, member portals and member marketing programs. 

Since 2018 I have focused a lot of my time on #socialselling and #socialprospecting coaching too. I have an online social prospecting training program that trains sales professionals how to leverage their successful sales career activities into modern selling successes. This means I help experienced sales leaders who may be a bit afraid of LinkedIn or just think LinkedIn is not valuable, into social prospecting experts. 

Relationships are still important to selling. LinkedIn is a very efficient tool to perform networking, prospecting and growing individual influence. This means sending connection requests and the pitch slapping anyone that accepts your connection request is social selling. That is called social annoying! 

I have helped existing companies and funded startups create GTM strategies, sales playbooks, and train sales professionals. I love this part of my role. I get to help sales people be more successful! 

I also get to, at times, help companies with data-driven marketing and revenue creation programs. Digital is her to stay. If a company is not fully using digital to spotlight opportunities, identify potential challenges and be more efficient, they will get left behind. It is not a matter of it, but when. 

That is why I love that I get to take my technology, operations and revenue creation experience and help companies in the wholesale distribution, buying groups and manufacturing space.

Yip Yip Technologies is a web application development company. I started this company when a consulting client had a need for a custom application for their website. I couldn't find a team to build it, so I created a team. That team became Yip Yip. 

Don't you love the name, by the way??  :-) 

We have helped companies with every step of the web development process. Some clients come to use with a problem. Others come to use with a vision for a solution.  

We love both types of projects because we get to do what we do best. We build technology that helps humans be more efficient and more productive while the company saves time and money. 

Our team has built The team specializes in web applications for sales and marketing uses. We have created custom solutions in the medical industry, b2b sales, fintech, content marketing, social media and website applications for visitor experience.

My role was a contract position to help the CEO with product market fit and revenue creation for an early stage fintech startup.  My role focused on building a sales playbook including cold call scripts, email cadences, setting up Hubspot and implementing early sales.  

Planwise received a Series A investment from a company based in Australia and moved operations. They are now called Uno Home Loans. My family choose not to relocate to Australia.

Digital Lizard

I truly wish I had never sold Digital Lizard. I didn't realize what I had at the time. But, this was a very challenging and painful season of my entrepreneurial life. I learned some of my most painful business lessons from my experiences with Digital Lizard. 

I started Digital Lizard because I needed a digital printer to supply variable print and web application solutions for my marketing company. I struggled to find a print company that could provide the development, innovation and creativity we needed to serve our customers. So, I choose to start a company and we built our own technology to drive the presses to do some very innovative printing and therefore direct mail products for our sales professional clients. 

We first bought a Xeikon printer and failed miserably. We lost a lot of money and learned a lot about a new industry. I had never owned equipment like large presses before. After a year of making big mistakes, we chose to take the big loss and purchase HP Indigo presses.  We started with 2 presses and eventually had 6 machines to serve our clients needs. 

I loved the innovation the team created and was passionate about. We created our first web-to-print applications and were taking orders directly off our website, printing, cutting and in a FEDEX box within 45 minutes. This was in 2007.  That is why this was so awesome. 

During the 2008 financial crisis my personal assets were hit very hard. I sold Digital Lizard to get out from under the financial strain of the business. The business was a $6M company in 2007 and dropped to $2.5M in a single year. Yeah, it sucked. 

I am very proud to know that the foundation I helped created is currently a $100MM+ business. I missed out on the most profitable years but I was able to lead our most innovative years that laid the foundation of the company.

Starting and leading BDP is the most exciting seasons of my life. It was the 1st company I founded on my own. I was young, nervous, enthusiastic and I learned a lot about leading people during this season. 

I convinced my wife to move from California to Idaho to launch the company. I wanted to live in the mountains with lakes. I also knew we would need to build a large customer service team and So Cal was too expensive for a call center. 

BDP is when I first realized I although I had a founder title, my sweet spot was leading our sales and marketing efforts. In hindsight I was a Chief Revenue Officer who lead and coordinated both sales and marketing teams. 

As a founder, I was also able to contribute to the development team to build two important technology solutions to grow our business. 

We built our own sales and marketing tech solutions that, if I had been a bigger thinker at the time, I would have resold it to other companies. It was a combination of a CRM with individual outreach cadences for cold calls, emails and direct mail. 

We also built a web application for our clients to help them personalize our direct mail products for their individual clients. 

We were an early saas model before I knew the term. We had monthly recurring revenues but we used software as a client tool but our product was a variety of personalized direct mail programs our clients used to grow their pipeline and increase their revenues. 

I really learned the art of selling by not selling during this season of my life. We built the company to just under $18MM in 5 years when we sold to a private equity company.

I am proud of the team & culture created and how we served our team, customers, vendors and community. It is still my favorite company and team that I have built over the years.

I lead a team of energetic and motivated people to help leaders turn their voice into the growth engine their content has not created. 

In 2014 content was polished, safe and went through the PR machine to be perfect. 

It worked then. But, that doesn't work in 2025. 

People like our buyers are looking for leaders who lead, inspire, share real life experiences and are not afraid of raw and real insights into their business and their life. This type of content build networks, reputation and big awareness of the business.

Personal branding is a bad term. What we need to do is grow reputation and network. The more people know leaders, the more people know your business. That is what works in 2025. That is what will work for the foreseeable future. 

It's hard, I get it. But, so is growing companies for years to only watch growth stall and competitors win more deals than our teams win. That's painful. Especially after we have spent so many years to be excellent.
