Being generous makes everyone’s life better.  It doesn’t matter if you are the giver, the receiver, or just an on-looker.   

Bob learned this lesson at a very young age.  In fact, if it wasn’t for some generous acts, Bob likely wouldn’t be here today.  He has dedicated his life to empowering mission-driven organizations to build cultures of generosity that are made up of fulfilled employees and satisfied customers.

The Generosity Guy has worked professionally and in volunteer roles for 23 years, in three different countries, and in 17 states.

When Bob was given a cancer diagnosis and experienced the tragic events of 9/11 in New York City,  he thought not only his life over, but everyone else’s too.  He went from feeling like an invincible 18-year-old to an unworthy victim of life.  

What happened in the months and years following was truly miraculous - or was it generous?  The acts of generosity he experienced saved his life.  

Bob’s story is unique but his perspective resonates with anyone who wants to enjoy the work they do, give to others, and make a positive impact in the world.

The most important lesson I learned as an employee came in an unexpected way.

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲.

A lot of companies try to motivate their people by:

➡ leaderboards
➡ lavish travel
➡ incentives
➡ privileges
➡ trophies
➡ time off
➡ fear

These things make people line up against each other in an obstacle course every day.

𝘜𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 1 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘴.

This means the bigger the "team", the more losers.


𝗜 "𝗪𝗼𝗻"

But I really lost.

🙋🏼𝘍𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺

I won one of those contests.

You'd think I'd be thrilled as the new guy.

But it was actually just luck.

I didn't get better.

𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵.


𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Make no mistake, I wanted to win the contest myself.

But I realized my veteran colleagues knew better.

They took part in plenty of these obstacle course contests long before I arrived.

It was always something with a financial incentive and encouragement to outrun their fellow team members.

🫱🏼‍🫲🏾𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥.

Collaboration was much healthier...

...for them 𝘢𝘯𝘥 the business.

There's something in business you should take every time but never hope for.

The problem with highlight culture is not the celebration of what is great.

It's not even that we only see the great stuff but skip the "daily grind".

If you've ever played a sport and watched film, you know you learn more from the bad plays.

👉🏼This is how you get better.


𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵

A lot of people will tell you to "mess up and move on".

That's great if you're building a highlight reel.

👉🏼But you're building a business.

Go ahead, take those highlights when they come.

But don't rely on them for greatness.

𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯.

I've seen a million of these types of videos.
The market is saturated to say the least.  But...

🔥𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦.

𝗪𝗲'𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Don't just see paratriathlete "overcoming the odds".

𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵.

This isn't just about:

➡ determination
➡ perseverance
➡ inspiration
➡ toughness

💪🏼He's got all those.

But if that's the only thing you see...

...you're missing something.


𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗿

Some sports require you do one thing really well.

The unique thing about triathlons is you have to be an excellent swimmer, biker, and runner.

A lot of things have to come together.

Think about all the other things that come together in this type of competition:

➡ the entire event itself
➡ the robotic technology
➡ help from the other person

and of course, the athletes' talent.

👉🏼We live and work in a complex world.

A lot of things have to come together for greatness.


𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀?

I encourage you to see more than a grind in your life and work.

📈Limitations are opportunities to collaborate.

📈Collaborations are opportunities to grow.

📈Growth is what we all need.

📈𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵.


🧊𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲

I'm okay with you celebrating this individual effort.

We just need think bigger and better.

There's something I wish they told me when I started my career.

Seems simple but we forget this the longer we are in a job.

♦️Some expect perfection.

♦️Some expect constant progress.

♦️Others expect you to just show up daily.

I've been all of these, but one thing always remained.


𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗳𝗳 𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗨𝗴𝗹𝘆

And maybe that makes life and work beautiful.

🔷You can do everything perfectly and lose.

🔷But you can also look terrible and be victorious.

𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 "𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱"

It's overwhelming to manage 250 social media connections no less all the people IRL.

No wonder people think it's best to focus on yourself.

But it's a trap, especially professionally.


𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲

I assume you're on here to find better work or to 𝘥𝘰 better work.  I have to recognize that. 👏🏼

With that being said, you need others to do both.

And their perspectives matter.


𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼

I saw this right after I was reading a report from a business partner.  

It made me think about how my first thought was to respond and share 𝘮𝘺 perspective.

"𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘺.  𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨!"

How many times do we first think of our own perspective and how to get ahead?

Whoever shared the message obviously thought my perspective mattered to communicate with me.

𝘚𝘰, 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘴?


𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱

Understanding other perspectives will make 𝘺𝘰𝘶 better. 

No need to ignore others'.  In fact, it's a bad practice for growth - in business or your personal life.

Your perspective doesn't matter if you don't understand what other people are thinking.

Use this to be a better leader and decisions maker.

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳:

➡You 𝘢𝘳𝘦 good enough.
➡Listen closely to what others say.
➡People 𝘢𝘳𝘦 recognizing your work.
➡There are no shortcuts to getting ahead.
➡Leading is being with people, not ahead of them.
➡Technology is terrific but people solve the problems.

The world tells us there's a corporate walk to take.

🪜Or even a ladder to climb.

🎯Just hit one target at a time.

𝘐𝘧 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦.


𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.

👉🏼This doesn't mean you try everything at once.

It means you have great intention about what's important in a given season of your career.

𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵.


𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸

1️⃣ 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴.

➡ Do this at least monthly
➡ Max 3 at any given time
➡ Make them 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 centric.


2️⃣ Design repeatable habits that will teach you something.

➡ You should be able to explain to a 5th grader
➡ Indicate how often, daily is recommended
➡ Track progress, visually, not mentally


3️⃣ 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘫𝘰𝘣! (don't skip this)

➡ Never cheat yourself on a chance to be great.
➡ Treat colleagues and customers well.
➡ Don't discount your existing role.

I found the perfect example of being an entrepreneur I've ever seen.

𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

I've never been skimboarding before but I would imagine it's pretty tough.

You run full speed, try to throw down your board on (hopefully) flat water, and jump on.

...not to mention timing this with a wave to ride. 🌊

𝗜𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗻'𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 🏄 

There are definitely similarities but one big difference is skimboarding requires a lot of self-made momentum.

Whereas surfing, although not easier by any means, relies completely on waves to get going.

👉🏼Surfing is in deeper waters. Skimming is close to the shore.


𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

You will never find success if you don't do some skimming - especially early on.

In fact, each thing you try will require some self-made momentum.

Each attempt requires some sort of sprint to get moving.


𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀?

It means you can only do so many things.

It's easy as a high performer to try a million things to make your business work.

𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵.

‼️But you can't try every idea.


𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱

Your goal should always be to get to deeper waters - to surf.

Skim to start but you can only do so much on your own.

𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴.

Don't do it more than you have to.

Focus on the things that give you momentum - the stuff that is working.

The guy in the video makes it look too easy.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of attempts it takes to be that smooth.


𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

🤔Maybe it was better.


𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗱:

➡Too much technology

➡A slick CRM with all the features

➡100 Standard operating procedures

➡A flashy website (with no call to action)

➡An detailed employee handbook (no employees)
➡The greatest "go to market" strategy known to man

𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵!

I could make calls, automate, and hire (even though I had no need to) with the best of them.

I was getting so much done...
...but making so little progress.


𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿

I'm all for speed, but only once you have mastery.

(decision-making might be the only exception)

Especially at first, you have to expect a rough journey.
*𝘚𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰

You can implement every tip, trick, or hack on the internet to "speed you up".

👉🏼But they will ultimately slow you down.

Focus on crossing the rough waters in the right direction (see the video again). Speed will come.  


𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗧𝗼𝗼

I'm not one of those "don't make the same mistake I did" & "I can help you avoid every problem ever" guys.

But I can make you aware you'll fall into the speed trap from time to time. That's okay.

Just make sure you don't speed right off the bridge.

There's something I've realized everyone's ideal career should have.

A lot of content out there will tell you about all the things you need to take to be successful.

👉🏼Truth is, no one can define your success but you.

They can make general suggestions, but those suck...😯

And there are way too many out there.


𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲

𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘺

Between work and life.

This is where you feel like you are giving the right amount to your family 𝘢𝘯𝘥 your company.

There's nothing wrong with prioritizing loved ones.

And there's nothing wrong with working really hard.

💪🏼𝘐 𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦.


𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺...

You're jumping on the career path, pedaling 100mph, and then hoping off because:

♦️Exhaustion
♦️Burnout
♦️Toxicity
♦️Fear

Whatever you call it, it's all the same in this case.

It's the stuff that comes from the extremes and you do it over and over again.

Maybe this why people talk about "balance".

But I don't like that word because it assumes there is a single way for everyone to design their life.

⚠️It doesn't work like that.

Different seasons call for different 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘴.


𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱

Instead of trying to sprint to the top of the career ladder, falling off, regrouping with those you love, and starting over the next day:

Try giving one thing positive thing to each aspect of your life every day.

𝘈𝘤𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘵.  𝘋𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘵.

Tell the people in your life and career what is and why it is significant.

This builds confidence you are built to give, not take.

You're not willing to admit you have too much going on.

I thought juggling a lot of things was a badge of honor.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼

👉🏼Juggling itself is an amazing talent.

But that's why most of us shouldn't do it.


𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗜𝘁

➡ email
➡ media
➡ reports
➡ content
➡ financials
➡ phone calls
➡ one-on-ones
➡ team meetings

These might be necessary.

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.

Which are essential to your role?


𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲

It's better to prioritize quality over quantity.

Show up great for what matters most.

Master that before adding more.

I heard it said the human mind can only have 3 priorities at any given time.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘱 3?


𝗠𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗧𝗼-𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁" 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁

It was easier for me to admit I had too much going on when I starting counting what I 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 do.

This led to my "to-don't" list.

It's a bunch of stuff that distracts me from the priorities.

How you talk to people.

𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿

Some will tell you it starts at the top.

👉🏼But it continues everywhere else.

If you feel like your workplace communication is a big traffic jam that pushes people off the edge (𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰),

then you need better systems.


𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Here are a few ways to help, work on one at a time:

➡𝙰̲𝚌̲𝚝̲𝚒̲𝚟̲𝚎̲ ̲𝙻̲𝚒̲𝚜̲𝚝̲𝚎̲𝚗̲𝚒̲𝚗̲𝚐̲

-Effort matters.  
-Many issues can be solved just by listening more closely to your colleagues.


➡ ̲𝙿̲𝚊̲𝚛̲𝚊̲𝚙̲𝚑̲𝚛̲𝚊̲𝚜̲𝚒̲𝚗̲𝚐̲

-This ensures understanding.
-Repeat back what you've taken in and get a response from the other party.

-Sometimes, it's not even about what you say.
-Great communication includes cues that allow people to anticipate messaging and focus better.

-Timing is everything, or at least really important.
-You can save a lot of time if you know 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 is the right time. Normalize timing for specific topics.

-Positivity wins, as long as it's real
-Don't patronize but when you affirm people for good work, they tend to communicate with you more.

-Tech is everywhere.
-Use the tools for reminders, automation, encouragement, etc. It's an enhancement for just about everything.

-It's cliché. I know.
-Don't sleep on reviewing previous messages. It's not just a review. It's reinforcing of key communications.



𝗕𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿"

You'd be surprised how some extra effort can clear up the communication roadways for a company.

You can be the positive force.

Especially with AI, it's easier than ever to gather info.

Tracking hours tells you how much time things take.

Tracking results shows you if effort is well done.

𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯?

🔸Just don't complain if someone clocks out when they've accomplished their job - and done it well.

💪🏼This is the controllable.  

You want of team full of people who give their own 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 effort - not a team full of clones.

Hire talented people and let them find their own way down the mountain. *𝘚𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰

Most people will hike down the mountain in the summer and ski down it in the winter.

In fact, I'd give more credit to the person who found the unique way to accomplish something.

It's a positive force in your life.

👎🏼If you just want to go home everyday, you'll struggle to thrive at work.

👎🏼If you're a workaholic, you'll miss out on important family time.

Neither of these are good for people

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳?


𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝘆

You have to say what's truly important to you and your company.

➡ the values
➡ the priorities
➡ the practices
➡ the focuses areas

𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯, 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳!

👉🏼If you can't deliver it, leave it out of the mission statement.

This will attract the 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 people.

And repel the wrong people.

They'll feel it in the workplace 𝘢𝘯𝘥 at home.

Do this if you feel like you're not getting recognized for your work.

You're underestimating your ability for one thing.

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳.

Many think that in order to get a promotion they have to "prove" they are worthy.

It gives you a false sense of ability - as if your good enough just not being recognized.

If you have to prove it, you're 𝘯𝘰𝘵 it.

And you're taking away from whatever it is you have.

What matters is what you 𝘤𝘢𝘯 do, not what you did.


𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

𝘈 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘣𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦.  

If your work is top notch and no one notices, you don't want that promotion anyway.

It will just get worse at the next level. In fact, you're boss is probably experiencing it themself.

What you want is the belief that you can learn how to do something well, not necessarily the recognition of what you've already done.

𝘋𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸.


𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗔𝗶𝗻'𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁...

...𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦.

Instead of fighting to be recognized, fight to learn what's next.

Ask the boss not to "pay attention to you".  

This says:

➡ Look at me!
➡ I worked hard!

Ask them to help you learn how to do and earn more.

This says:

➡ Look at us.
➡ I have hard work to do.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺.

It's you have energy to grow 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 the company.

👉🏼You'll show you're ready.

But not overconfident.

You don't want to do this to people.

It's doing it to your business indirectly.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄

Consistency is great but it could be insane.

𝘋𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘴.🤷🏼‍♀️

If you want to grow, you have to 𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 too.

➡ Try new things.
➡ Reinvent something.
➡ Improve what you can.
➡ Look for different opportunities

Do all these things and expect others in your company to do the same.

📈Now, that's a growth culture!

Yes, keep it consistent.
