No automation. No new tool. Just curiosity.

I started clicking through contacts, looking at activity history, seeing who’d been poking around. And sure enough -- one company was showing engagement again. Nothing our system would’ve caught. I flagged it for sales. It’s now a live enterprise deal.

That 20-minute rabbit hole reminded me of one of the best habits I’ve built in my career: ✨ Getting manual ✨

When I was earlier in my career, I used to live inside the CRM.
→ I’d click through contacts one by one.
→ Look at their full journey: fields, timestamps, deal history, campaign touches.

Then I'd ask myself questions like:
→ Where did this deal actually start?
→ What signals did we miss?
→ Which data was useless? What fields are missing?
→ What patterns repeat across wins and losses?

That’s how I learned growth. Not from dashboards -- from behavior.

Everyone’s trying to automate everything right now. But if you skip the manual stage, you skip the insight stage. Automation works best after you understand what you’re automating. (A rant for another post!)

If you’re in Q4 scramble mode ('tis the season 🤪), here’s what I’d do before spinning up another campaign:
→ Go through your CRM manually. Company by company.
→ Look for signs of re-engagement (recent page views, reopened emails, event attendance).
→ Cross-check webinar attendees, free users, and closed-lost deals for patterns.
→ Flag anything that looks warm again.

The fastest path to closing Q4 isn’t brand-new leads — those are critical for future pipeline, and we can’t take our eye off them.

But for this quarter's speed?
It’s identifying the interest you already earned. Then being intentional with how you can help them.
