Personal Branding is such a misunderstood thing.

In reality:

It is a technique anyone can use to become:

✓ Visible
✓ Credible
✓ Profitable

It is directly connected with human emotions.

And some of the facts that make it powerful:

- Our brain loves stories than anything
- Humans form opinions about someone quickly
- People follow people with same vision & mindset

But some people think personal branding is:

× Posting selfies.

I had one meeting yesterday with a founder.

And he said that “he doesn’t want to post selfies on LinkedIn”

I said ok, but why do you need to post selfies?

He replied: That’s all personal branding is…

My reaction at that time 😑

So, in short, personal branding has different types.

According to your business & personality, pick your style.

I ran a simple experiment on a client’s LinkedIn.

Personal v/s. Educational content

Context: Client runs a traditional B2B Biz.

Goal: Build the Founder’s personal brand.

So, I tested two content pillars:

A)  “Value-first” Content (aka educational)

- Industry insights
- Educational frameworks
- Market updates
- Case studies


B) “Human-first” Content (aka Personal)

- Founder’s personal stories
- Behind-the-scenes moments
- Company culture snapshots
- Lessons from everyday decisions

What happened?

Type A: Low views but target accounts
Type B: High views but broad accounts

In B2B, personal wins only when it leads to expertise.

Personal content opens the door.
Educational content closes the deal.

And when we combine it strategically:

✓ Personal content warms the audience
✓ Educational content positions authority
✓ Both together build trust with the audience

This is how founders win on LinkedIn today.
