We are Designability, a national innovation charity advancing inclusive design across the UK.

We collaborate with disabled people, to dismantle unfair barriers and turn lived experience into practical, innovative solutions that unlock everyday independence.

We have been around for a while. Since 1968, in fact. But we are looking a little different now.

Our updated brand reflects who we are today, acknowledges our heritage, and shows where we’re heading as an innovative charity leading the way in smart, accessible design.

The focus of what we do remains the same: we listen to disabled people and work with them to design real solutions for real problems.

We believe change is possible - because we build it.

I'm absolutely buzzing to share our latest case study with Smartbox Self Storage UK.

When we were building Pipeline, self storage operators always told us they were searching for less expensive, higher quality demand but had been relying heavily on one main source - Google Ads. That dependency was driving up competition and costs for everyone.

Like many operators, Smartbox had built its lead generation around Google Ads. But with auction pressure growing and national players dominating the space, standing out on Google alone was becoming an increasingly tough ask for an owner-managed business.

They didn't want another aggregator either. Roger Canham, Smartbox's founder, saw those platforms as just competing for the same customers he was already chasing on Google. He needed something that brought entirely new customers to the table.

Since going live with Stashbee Pipeline, Smartbox have seen:

 - Under £50 cost per booking vs. £100+ on Google Ads
 - Fresh leads with no overlap against existing channels
 - Their Leicester site reach 26.5% occupancy within its first four months

Seeing Pipeline deliver results like this makes me realise this is the exact outcome we had in mind when we built it. It's beyond exciting to see it making such a tangible difference for self storage operators across the UK.
