No one tells you this when you get promoted.

The work doesn’t necessarily get harder.

It gets heavier.

You’re still capable.

You still know how to do the job.

But now decisions linger in your head longer than they used to.

You think about how things will land.

Who it will affect.

What does it mean if you get it wrong.

And even on “good” weeks, you can feel more drained than you expect.

That’s not because you’re bad at leadership.

It’s because leadership quietly moves you from execution to responsibility, and most high performers are never shown how to make that shift.

I see this exact moment over and over again with women stepping into leadership roles.

Hard truth, but an important one.

Great people don’t fail because they lack talent, they fail when the environment doesn’t support them.

 Leadership isn’t about control; it’s about creating the conditions for people to thrive.
