Owner, CEO, and Business Coach

GraceKennedy Ltd. (Grace Foods)

Provided high-level strategy to deliver profitable brand growth and protection with overall responsibility for marketing. Managed P&L, 45 staff, and a territory spanning Jamaica [HQ], US, UK, Canada, Caribbean, and Belize. Directed global business units to execute brand initiatives, delivering targeted results. Served as the Head of the Marketing Council for the GraceKennedy Group. Reported to the CEO of GraceKennedy Foods International.
•	Established new company Grace Foods Ltd. Increased overall brand growth through successful brand repositioning for continued growth.
•	Led team that introduced the new Patty range in US doubling volume and revenue for five years of launch.
•	Propelled Grace Jerk Seasonings to #1 position in Canada (2017–2019). Researched need for improvement in product formulation and package design. Focused on effective promotion to deliver growth in volume, revenue, and margins.
•	Drove continuous improvement in commercial growth of the Grace global brand in Jamaica and US with 15% revenue growth up to June 2020 YTD.
•	Received Team Award for Top Global Support Department to the US market (2019).

Managing Director

Selected to drive global profitable growth through unified brand message for marketing groups, including Jamaica, other Caribbean, and International. Managed 45-member team, and input to P&L deliverables. Played a key role in developing five-year growth plans for multiple product categories. Identified growth drivers and created strategic plans. Oversaw brand repositioning projects. Supported regulatory review / compliance to label declarations as part of brand management.
•	Directed marketing teams for Grace-owned brands to maintain #1 Food Brand in Jamaica and top 5 in the US, Canada, and UK for products with unique Caribbean taste.
•	Led team that delivered results for Grace Coconut Water as #1 brand (volume) in Canada for 2014–2016.
•	Increased off-shelf sales growth for core products in US - corned beef (44%), coconut milk powder (41%), and mackerel (19%) in 2015 & 2016. Assessed brand positioning, trade, and consumer activities while focusing on quality, trust, and Caribbean roots.

Chief Global Category Officer

Charged with creation of profitable new products to drive growth. Led central team in the development process for all new products launched globally. Attended trade shows and met with suppliers / technical partners to increase exposure and discuss trends.
•	Launched a natural range of coconut water ranked #1 in Canada and in the top 10 in the US, the fastest-growing product portfolio after launch (2012–2013).
•	Surged revenue for new products launched in one year (2009) as the new product development leader.

Business Development Manager (New Products)

Managed an assigned portfolio of products through all development phases from concept to launch. Expanded range of innovative new products. Coordinated global market research on consumer behaviors and trends. Handled regulatory reviews.
•	Spearheaded new product development for frozen meal pack range in NA within a then-new category that expanded beyond core Caribbean consumers.
•	Contribution of new products at 16% of total brand revenue.
•	Launched popular Caribbean flavoured pre-seasoned vegetarian (meatless) products.

Senior Product Development Manager

Bristol Myers Squibb Group (Mead Johnson Nutritionals Ltd.)

Executed marketing activities / strategic planning for nutritional products throughout the English-speaking Caribbean, focusing on the main markets of Jamaica, Trinidad, Bahamas, Barbados, and Cayman Islands.
•	Participated in special training for the global scientific breakthrough with infant formula range. Managed roll out in CARICOM region from a marketing perspective which contributed to 50% growth in the portfolio over four years. Trained medical reps.
•	Achieved Mead Johnson (Nutritionals) General Manager’s Team Award for Puerto Rico / CARICOM Regions (2003).

A number of business owners & leaders I work with when first asked how things are going, often say things like:

Having difficult conversations with yourself or close team members can be hard. In addition, expressing frustrations and disappointments that you're experiencing in the business can often be a challenge.

My role and objective are to give you the opportunity to say the things that you have been thinking about but haven’t been able to fully express.  Those expressions through your words are what we will translate into actions to take you and your team beyond your current circumstances. You will get to that place where you can leave at the end of each day knowing that the work being done by you and your team is important and that you are making a profound difference.

Work-life balance is often misunderstood and is very personal. There are priorities, along with negotiables and non-negotiables.

I have met a number of business owners & leaders who have been spending extra-long hours doing work at the expense of meaningful family and other personal time. This quote from Alexander Kjerulf rings true “Most people chase success at work, thinking that will make them happy. The truth is that happiness at work will make you successful.”
