I am currently the Co-Founder with my wife Brittany of a marketing and consulting company, Four Leaf Marketing & Consulting.

I have a deep passion for baseball, sales and developing the next generation of sports business leaders.

To be an elite seller you have to have a why behind what you are selling.

The first interview I had for a sales job was in college for a door-to-door sales company...and to be honest I can't even remember what product I would have been selling. 

I didn't take the job and a few weeks later I received an offer for an amazing opportunity selling tickets for the Arizona State University Athletic Department.

It was part-time at nights around my school schedule and selling something I was extremely passionate about (I bleed maroon and gold...Go Devils!) really ignited my passion for sales.

Over the next 17 years I was blessed to have a career in sales and sales leadership for three Major League Baseball teams with the highlight being winning a World Series Championship in 2017 with the Houston Astros.

I'm excited for the next step of my career as I leap into entrepreneurship focusing on consulting companies and sports teams on their B2B go-to-market strategy.

I believe in mixing an old school approach of quality and relevant sales outreach with new school tools and technologies to work more efficiently.

When my wife and I are not building our business we are active in our church, our girls' PTSA, driving the girls to their after school activities and enjoying the amenities of South Florida living on the weekends.

I'm very active on LinkedIn so I look forward to being connected and hope to provide value to you with the content I post and share.

🏈⚾️🎟️ This week I was I had a great visit to the Music City.

During the trip I spent two days with the Nashville Sounds Baseball Club ticket sales team and an afternoon with  the Tennessee Titans ticket sales leadership team.

In both sessions we spent a good amount of time on real-life applications of AI (ChatGPT/Gemini/Copilot) in the sales process and with the Titans how to drive more revenue from their teams as sales leaders.

Here were a few takeaways:

- Using AI for research and to find lookalike companies can save reps hours per week in the prospecting process.

- AI gives reps industry benchmarks (average deal size, conversion rates) to help tell a strong ROI story

- As leaders building agents for repetitive processes is easier than you think. The right context and detailed instructions are key.

Time savings are great but what really gets reps and leaders excited is when they see how AI helps them make more sales.

📚This week I got to participate in Career Day at the girl’s school.

First time having all three in the same school so was pretty special for me and them.

For all three classes I shared the importance of ticket sales to the overall business of their favorite sports team.

Because as soon as they get in the game they make their parents by popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, merch, shirts, etc. which is more money for the team.

(They loved answering that question).

In the 4th grade class I broke them into groups (family, business, church) and had them tell me why they’d attend a game.

They answered better than some of the professionals I know that do this lol.

Grateful that their school puts this on every year.

Looking forward to doing this again next year.

🏟️ 🎟️ Spoke to a Head of Ticketing recently that works for a very prominent owner that has closed massive B2B deals.

She said that she's terrified for her reps to get in an elevator with the owner because their reps only know how to sell is B2C.

They'd sound foolish if they got asked about what business deals they're working on if the owner asked.

I see this across a number of teams and why it's important for young sellers to learn B2B early in their career.

The B2C process is getting more transactional and many of those buyers want to self serve.

The value we bring now as sellers is not having information...prospects can get information on their own.

It's having insights, success stories from current clients, industry trends, teaching prospects something valuable to help them grow their business.

That's where sellers are seeing success closing larger B2B deals (in sports and outside of it).

They establish the credibility and can defend their product with a strong ROI story.

🤖 With AI, now every sales rep can show up to a B2B meeting informed, with a point of view and ready to have an intelligent conversation with a business leader.

One tool that gets slept on for B2B prospecting is LinkedIn.

Even though only a small percentage posts there are over 1 billion people on LinkedIn.

I like it because everyone updates their LinkedIn profile and is pretty up to date with a persons company and job title.

And if someone does actually post that's a great opportunity to engage with value, stand out and cut through the noise.

For new B2B sellers here is a great place to start on LinkedIn:
- In the search bar type in a keyword of your ideal customer (VP of Sales, VP of Marketing, President, etc.).
- At the top of the page click on "People"
- Click on "All Filters"
- Add the city you're targeting under "Locations"
- Under Connections of click on "+ Add a connection"
- Select an executive with your organization or a client/prospect you have a great relationship with

This will give you all the people they are connected with that they can potentially introduce you too.

Even if it's not a strong connection, you're at least directionally targeting people that are familiar with your company and what you sell.

📈 February Growth Tip: Don't focus on the competition

I was on a call recently and this topic came up.

Many times with prospects and clients we get grouped with the competition.

It's important to know what they do well and not but what's even more important is focusing on what makes you great and unique.

If one of our prospects is already working with a competitor, the switching costs are not worth it if everything is the same.

As you operate authentically yourself you will attract those that best resonate with you.

🏟️ 🎟️ 🤖 Most sports sales teams I talk to are integrating an AI solution.

But most are generic solutions without specified use cases for sales.

The future is every sales leader and sales rep having 4-5 agents customized to their work vs. random, manual prompting.

That requires budget approval.

And to get that budget approval the sales leadership team needs to show that it will drive revenue...not just save reps time.

Time savings is great but the return CFOs are looking for in ROI is revenue.

🤖 Many young sales professionals I speak with are excited about the possibilities of AI.

They learned about it in school, they use it in their personal lives but are unsure how to leverage it for sales.

I give them three simple use cases to get started.

- Prospecting: Speed up the research process with relevant information that makes your outreach more relevant and personalized

- Closing Sales: Easily identify deal risks, create ROI stories, and build implementation plans for success

- Skill Development: Speed up onboarding, build out training plans, role play likely scenarios

The ones that are jumping on this early are already seen big gains on their peers.

Not just time savings but more (and better) meetings booked and more deals closed.

If you are new to AI, pick one use case in your sales process and just focus on that.

As that becomes part of your daily routine add another use case.
