In today’s world of Instagram reels and YouTube gurus, a growing number of “financial advisors” have emerged — self-made by watching content online rather than mastering fundamentals.

I recently came across a trend that left me thinking deeply.
People are:
📱 Buying the latest iPhone 17 on EMI (mostly for social flex),

🏠 Selling their only residential property,

💸 Investing that money into volatile asset classes in the hopes of quick returns,

🚪 All while living in rented flats — ironically, without feeling the same pressure of “status” in their housing choices.

Why does an iPhone symbolize success, but renting doesn’t seem to impact perceived status?

Why is short-term gratification overtaking long-term financial security?

It's not about whether you rent or buy, use Android or Apple — it's about understanding the real value behind your decisions and not just following trends blindly.
