🚨Breaking🚨: OpenAI Just put a price on AI-driven commerce.

ChatGPT is now taking a 4% cut on every sale made through its checkout. This isn't advertising. This isn't affiliate. This is transaction-based revenue - a fee for facilitating the sale inside the chat with 'Instant Checkout'

Starting January 26th, Shopify merchants can opt-in to sell directly through ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode, Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot.

The kicker? Google and Microsoft aren't charging fees (yet). Only OpenAI is monetizing checkout from day one.

What this means:
OpenAI isn't just building an AI assistant. They're building a commerce channel... one where discovery, consideration, and transaction can all happen inside the conversation.

Merchants can toggle AI platforms on or off individually to choose which channels to sell in, but their products will still appear in AI responses with links to their own websites.

To keep products from appearing in AI responses, merchants must contact the AI companies or prevent their listings from being indexed by web crawlers.

4% may sound small. But it sets a precedent: if AI drives the demand, AI takes a cut.

The agentic commerce era is here. And it has a price tag.

Considering that it increased Claude subscriptions, being the default LLM server.

What attracted me to Clawdbot wasn't what you think of. 
Obviously everyone wants a personal assistant that does things for you.

But for me it's these things:
- their headline caught my eye because it's overlaps with ActorDo vision
"Clears your inbox, sends emails, manages your calendar, checks you in for flights. All from WhatsApp, Telegram, or any chat app you already use."
-  the architecture is great to learn from, although there are a few aspects that I would do different
- agents (apps) & memory which follow a simple but strong design
- extensibility which is something we don't have yet at Actor
