My grandma is 107 years old.
35 years ago she did something revolutionary- for then and even now.

She installed an elevator in her house. At the time, she was in great health, fully mobile, totally independent and had 0 need of it. But she understood something most business owners still struggle with: you build the system before you need the system.

My daughter finished her 22 college applications and the season we are in is of a great pause. She's waiting. 
Waiting can be the worst. The limbo periods can feel so unsettling. Because the thing is you don't really always know what to do during this time. For her, grades still matter. LinkedIn changed something big this year and most recruiters haven’t caught on yet.
Since spring 2025, the algorithm has been testing your content inside topic clusters before it ever reaches your full audience. To be clear, not your followers or connection- clusters.

There is no way that a lot of recruiters know this information about the new LinkedIn algorithm update. Because day in and out, I see these 3 blaring errors. 


LinkedIn algorithm now has quality and authenticity FILTERS now. It's not just about the feel or 'vibe' of the post. These filters detect the following things:
-Structure duplication
-Synthetic and inauthentic tones
-AI-generated visuals

Using the tools doesn't mean you're going to be successful in your content. You need the right strategy and right process.

In the new algorithm report, there was a decline in video performance. 
I have a theory as to why. 🫣 (Here goes...)
It's not because video isn't important and effective. It's because when LinkedIn claimed it's importance in the previous update and people began doing it more, people did more- but did it crappily.

I'm sorry- I don't know how to say that kindly. 

I'm a believer in just getting out there and trying things. That done is better than not done. That being said, crappy video is hurting your recruiting brand. 

If you're trying to get a perfectly prepared video by using a ChatGPT script that makes you sound like a weatherman or cable channel commercial, just because you're checking the box, it's not helping you. 

And the algorithm knows people don't like that type of content so it's downgraded in the recent algorithm update. 

That being said, what I think it means is that recruiters who are doing video WELL- being genuine, leading, using best practices, saying things they really mean, offering value, showing an authentic experience- are getting massive market share and attention. 

They're separating from the generic recruiters, white-washed, saying the same things, being the same thing. I think most of us can tell at this point all the AI-ridden content, not just by format but my what's being said because it's all so similar. 

To stand out, you need to lead. You need to give people an authentic experience.

Recruiters- I know that the real reason a lot of you don't want to create content on LinkedIn is because you don't want to be like 'all the other people" that you feel are creating generic, lame, unoriginal content. 

I hear that. But, in order to be different, you have to do this one thing.

You have to trust your leadership and authority. 

Stop doubting what you think and what you say. Stop questioning how you say things. 

Own your worth. Own your voice. Own your abilities. And LEAN IN. 
This is the year for the leaders.

Where we live in California, we can entertain outside in the winter (with some good heaters) so a few years ago my husband and daughter started a tradition.
The tradition has 'grown'- in more than one way.

We get an outdoor Christmas tree and it started with a normal size tree. Now we decorate the entire outdoor space and get the biggest tree possible.

This year, we cut down a 24 foot tree. 

This place had a tractor to put it on our truck. Last year with out 18 footer we cut and dropped it right on the track (way sketchier).

To actually get it standing in our yard, my husband has a whole pully system with a wench, a custom made steel base and a harness system to secure it through the winter. 

And we love it so much we usually keep it up through April 🫣

If your 2026 is riding on ‘getting more clients’ you need to watch this training.
Most recruiters aren’t struggling because they lack skill.

 Posting more won’t save you. Random content won’t convert. If your message doesn’t move people toward a buying decision, you’re leaving money on the table every single week.
3. Follow-Up & Nurture Systems
This one hurts: You’re losing deals you should be closing simply because you have no bottom-of-funnel nurture. Warm prospects are going cold because you don’t have a system to stay top of mind.

I was talking with a friend yesterday, and she told me something that made me laugh and then made me think. She’ll mention a small improvement she wants to make around the house to her husband- 
maybe a little more gym equipment, or rearranging the dining room to create more space.

Her husband’s response? He goes straight to the extreme: “We should build a full outdoor gym.” “We should knock down the wall and add another room.”

At first I told her, “Do you realize how many women would love a husband with that level of enthusiasm?”

Then she said, “Yes… except he NEVER actually does any of it.” Big ideas with zero execution and nothing ever changes.

And the second she said it, I thought about the conversations I have with recruiters every day.

So many recruiters know what they could fix in their business. They have great ideas about the marketing they want to start, the content they want to create, the brand they want to build and the systems they want to put in place. But ideas without action don’t create momentum- they create stagnation.


If you’re sitting on ideas without implementation you’re not just standing still.
You’re falling behind the recruiters who act.
The recruiters who grow don’t wait for “the right moment.” They don’t need the perfect plan. They don’t try to rebuild the whole house when all they need is a better foundation.

They start.
They build their brand.
They put a real strategy in place.
They show up consistently.
