I didn’t think I could lead a room full of global email marketers — until I tried becoming a Networking Leader at the GURU Conference 2025.

I used to believe I wasn’t ready to lead conversations — that I should just quietly join the crowd and listen since I’m a third-world girlie.

But when I hosted the Solopreneur Room together with Jamie Bradley and Gabriella Robuccio, I realized how much I love bringing people together and encouraging everyone to yap.

Yes, I stayed up until 4AM and nap (sort of) in between my sessions. (worth it 😆).
Time zones are wild — but hey, I’d do it again to see Nick Lachey and the email gurus ofc!
Also, thank God the storm came after GURU. Phew. 🌧️🙏 We’re safe!

I’ve met so many brilliant, kind, hilarious email people from all over the world — and it reminded me why I love this industry.

We show up. We share. We root for each other.

Freelancing gets lonely when you’re at home day after day.

Writing a newsletter stings when no one replies.

But yesterday’s #TRIBEX event by John Pagulayan  reminded me why I keep showing up.

Freelancing gives people a chance. It opens doors for those who never had one.

A few people told me my newsletter landed at the right moment for them. Someone even said they loved The Glimmer Code ✦  

And three people came up to tell me they tried the ChatGPT trick from my last webinar.

Those small sparks reminded me of something easy to forget on quiet days: people are listening. People are learning. And sometimes the work you do in the dark still lights someone else’s path.

That’s enough reason to keep going. 💪

Another way to level up your copywriting: virtual sketching.

For the last four months, I’ve been picking one highlight from my weekend, turning it into a 3-slide StoryTribe visuals, and explaining it out loud in 30–60 seconds.

It forces my brain to sift, shrink, and shape an idea fast — no fluff, no wandering, just the essence.

And weirdly?

This tiny team ritual keeps my email game razor-sharp.

If I can tell a story in three frames and half a minute, I can definitely write a clean, high-impact email on Monday.

B2B/PLG SaaS (my forever niche): 🥲
“long cycle, multi-touch, attribution maze” or "not sure if email still counts here. this user was from our paid ads 2 months ago"

eComm (new): 😎
“Cool, here’s 33% of this month's revenue from ONE early BFCM email.”
we (Noel Salazar and I) made our eComm client $6k in the first month!! 

Personal brand (new): 💰
"Two annual deals from your touching founder story email"

The stark difference from the numbers basically slapped me across the face (in a good, character-building way).

Did I spend all my life in the wrong niche?
Possibly. 😅

Quick takeaway:
Email principles stay the same —
but niches react VERY differently.

Same skills. Different niches. Same email rules.

And honestly? Testing across niches made me a faster, sharper lifecycle marketer.

Also… I’m more confident now! 

Like truly confident. I solved deliverability and inbox placement issues and launched multiple new newsletters from scratch (including my own) this year.

So yes, I’m raising my prices next year. 
And will take on consulting projects too! ✌🏼

the pre-sell matters more than the sell. always.

pre-BFCM me:
 ⚡ scheduling
 ⚡ writing emails
 ⚡ wrestling segments
 ⚡ soft-selling in emails & in-apps
 ⚡ telling my flows “pls don’t F up today”

post-BFCM me:
same energy, lighter eyebags.

because selling isn’t a BFCM season thing, it’s an all-year responsibility.
you show up, teach, remind, repeat. train your users to open your emails. 
nudge them enough so they remember you when they're ready to buy.

so if you haven't been "pre-selling" all year round, and just sent an email blast last week, WHYYYYYYY?

BFCM is just a date. a campaign.

the same game should run for 12 whole months. ✨

Currently running 5 BFCM campaigns for clients...

thoughts range from, im sooo sleepy looking at these numbers to okay, just 1 more campaign to set up today. to wow, people buying and we're not live yet... hmmm, checks if this needs a code or not, hopefully not mixing up all these campaigns...

us marketers always say, “Use the voice of the customer.”

but the real flex?

when the customer starts using your words (which are kinda their words, originally).

bonus if they quote you word for word.
